  1. Quite a few of the old Goolies still about but as Malc said.............Spot's your man. Most probably be seeing him at York Soul Club on Saturday, will mention this thread to him. Cheers Martyn
  2. Yes did Donny Bailey's Sunday All-Dayers,my first venture outside of Hull.Went on train with my mate Steve Stones & bumped into Mr Newbold & his little gang on the same train (hey up Andy mate long time no see) Run by Terry Samson if my memory is correct, who ran various "do's" around that time? Remember Terry putting handfuls of wet sawdust down to make the danceflood more slippery & everyone falling on there arses & he had to get a sweeping brush to clear it all away One week Donny Bailey's the next week held at the Sheffield Baileys, there might even have been one at Cat's Whiskers in Meanwood,Leeds??? I'd have said early 76, maybe late 75? Decor was the same in all Bailey's at that time, bloody aweful vivid orange seats. Do remember the 24hr thing too. Pat was on at the dayers but not sure about the nighter?? Happy days............I think Cheers Martyn
  3. Trev Had a listen this afternoon when you posted it & I'm afraid it's not for me............may go down well just not in the Bird household Having listened to it a couple more times I think it would be an OK inst. it's her vocals I don't like???? Cheers Martyn

  20. If you'd have been at Hotwax on the last Bank Holiday you'd change your mind about R n B? A bit of a tired oldies bias main room & alt room full of young 20/30 somethings giving it loads. Great up-tempo R n B & Latin been danced to by people with none of our political baggage just out for a great time listening to great music............as a bit of dancer yourself (I use the term loosely of course ) it would have blown you away.......did me. So less of the dissin of the R n B boys...........it's the future:thumbup: Cheers Martyn
  21. Simon It has been tried I think in the past???? Reading what people want all they have to do is go to The Wilton they've been covering all those bases (maybe not Rockabilly:D) in one room for 17+ years. Cheers Martyn
  22. So sad...........but so true My choice would be to have a room that had no dj's booked & list of half hour spots & you turn up put your name next to a time & play a few. What a mix of tunes you'd get.............only restriction off original vinyl. Would the room be taken over by one type of music or another do you think????? Cheers Martyn
