  3. My first nighter would have been Unity Hall,Wakefield........late 76 maybe early 77 (Malc will know) Sounds that remind me of that time that haven't been meantioned yet......... Fabulettes-The Bigger They Are Eddie Regan-Playing Hide & Seek Jeanette White-Music Not sure if they'd been played before at other venues but they are tunes that remind me of those early nighters at The Unity. Cheers Martyn
  4. Played Mel & Tim-Backfield In Motion out the other week & it sounded great & got people talking, just what an underplayed tune should do in my opionion. I have agree with Macho if you stray too far away from Wigan oldies expect to play to an empty floor, pity really. Cheers Martyn
  5. Dave One for the young un's Another great list Cheers Martyn
  6. Jason Knight-Love Is Getting Stronger.........Russ?? Cissy Houston-Think It Over...........Not Sure Alan Rhodes Play This At Wigan?Massive For Him At Oval Ball York. Cheers Martyn
  7. The best dancers for me are the ones who are on the dancefloor due to a reflex movement, they have had to break off a conversation, drag themselves up off there chair, stop ordering a pint at the bar etc. because that particular tunes moves them so much they have to show there passion with a few moves.........they could be on the dancefloor twiddling there thumbs for me they would still be brilliant. It's not what they do when they are out there it's why they are there that makes them great to me............I think we've all had that feeling at some time or other & did you give a toss how good or bad you looked?? While I'm here what's that all about? Those people when a record come on do a couple spins, backdrop a few steps then stop dancing after about a minute of the tune.........next record comes on,splits, backdrop a few steps,spin,stop..........next record the same a few more acrobatics then stop.............why bother just try to get in the Olympic Gymnastics team for the floor exersises Cheers Martyn
  8. No he was right "show off".............I want one Cheers Martyn

  16. Trev Thought it would be your R.L Burnside Cheers Martyn
  17. Russ Joking apart I think Sunday afternoons have a lot of mileage in them..............not a chill out session or a few mates playing in a backroom of a pub but a proper organised venue say from 12pm til 7pm with the same line-up you'd have at a nighter with the same up front music ethic & wanting to make people dance. The reason is with different working patterns, family life etc it's difficult to fit nighters in (especially Friday ones) But I think most people can make a few hours for themselves on a Sunday afternoon??? I know this isn't perfect & goes against everything we were brought up with but I'm just trying to be a realist & would love to see some of the old nighter crowd come back that due to age & health reasons have had to give them up. I'm writing this having just done Radcliffe last night. (11 til 6ish).Travelling from Hull to Manchester,so this is from someone who still loves the nighter scene. Just a thought?? Cheers Martyn
