News: Upfront Or Way Behind Why?
Mark There a few reason some upfront night's are struggling imo.......... Too many nighters to choose from & the nighter crowd shrinking by the week so it doesn't take Einstein to work out that numbers at some will be down, so some will have to go to the wall before the ones that are left will have good numbers. Money is an issue which manifests in different ways such as people will choose a closer soul night rather then travelling a bit further to a nighter that will cost more to get in & less petrol money etc. There does seem a general apathy amongst soulies who just seem resigned to the fact that oldies night's are going to take over no matter what happens as promoter don't seem to take the risk of running something different that won't get numbers through the door to pay for it. I don't think it's the quality of music been played as personally I think there's some great stuff hitting the decks. Cheers Martyn

The Ones That Got Away
Missed an Isonics-Sugar Kammy when Barrie Waddington had it in his box for 2 if not 3 Wilton's (so that makes it 6 months) for £35, I bought something else off him each time thinking I'll get it next time...........I have to leave the room when I hear it played as I still love it Walked away from a guy selling a Bobbettes-Happy Go Lucky Me RCA issue at Wigan as he wanted £3.50 for it & I was only offereing £3..........fun this record collecting innit Cheers Martyn

Do You Have A Signature "last Song" Of The Night?
Have used both The Dells & The Exits that have already been mentioned as an ender & both work brilliantly. At the moment I'm using Gayle Harris-Ain't Gonna Let It Get Me Down DCP to end my spots with. Cheers Martyn

Richard Searling
Can't believe Chandlers & George Kirby haven't been mentioned? Can't remember what the Chandlers C/U was? But George Kirby was never C/U as Richard came to Hull to dj at 21st birthday party & he'd just got George Kirby & not had time to cover it up & we all jumped on stage to see what his new sound was.So knowing what gob shites us Hull lot were he didn't bother covering it up What about one of his finest..........Spyder Turner & The Webs which of course was John & The Weirdest, both sides. Got a tape with him playing it for the first time & it's dated February 1980?? Cheers Martyn
