  1. Paul New to me this & as you say bit of a strange one but after a couple of plays definitely grown on me?Has it been played in the past??I like leftfield things & this certainly fits the bill. Cheers Martyn
  2. One time rarity from me today.Disappeared from the decks when a few were found (& some dodgy pressings turned up) but have heard it out a couple of times recently & quite right too, still brilliant tune imo. Danny Moore-Somebody New Allrite Cheers Martyn
  3. The other Little Anthony tune that does me everytime I hear it is this one. Little Anthony & The Imperials-Hurt So Bad United Artists https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXHlALI-C-4 Backed with this beauty too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3f3FQOsSkGk Cheers Martyn PS Bought at Hyde all-night in the early/mid 90t's..........Dave you might have been there I think????
  4. Paul Nearly bid one of these this weekend but Tina Britt took my money, great version Cheers Martyn PS Nearly played Ella's "These Boots" at Radcliffe on Saturday but didn't have enough time to fit it in
  5. Azza/Don Been known play both El Ant & Tomorrow's Men in the same set...........yes I did get a strange look I blame Joan for confusing me as it was her who I first heard play TM at Frobisher years ago Cheers Martyn
  6. Radcliffe was good last night, numbers down a little but didn't detract from a great night.Had the pleasure of spinning a few in the RnB/60t's room, really enjoyed myself as I got to play a few things I don't get chance to give an outing to very often plus dig a few forgotten things out that seemed to go down well. Here's one that filled the floor, always thought this would go in a main room like Charles Sheffield,AC Reed etc did awhile back? Virgie Till-I Didn't Steal Your Dog Glover Cheers Martyn
  7. Paul Two great sets.Juanita stroke of genius,so good so underplayed. Cheers Martyn
  8. Swifty OK on first plays, didn't blow me away but I'd have been pleased with it as a blind buy..........as you say great label (how much of an Anorak does that make me sound ) Cheers Martyn
  9. Really wanted to take Dave's lead & post a soulful tune on Crazy Horse (Billy Robinson & The Burners - Shucks You Left The Fire Burning) but couldn't find it So will have to make do with one from the master. Walter Jackson-After You There Can Be Nothing OKeh Cheers Martyn
  10. By heck boys some brill stuff been posted, hearing new stuff every day Digging through my records yesterday looking for something & I came across this & gave it a whirl,it blew me away as I'd forgotten how good it sounds. Gayle Harris-Ain't Gonna Let It Get Me Down DCP Cheers Martyn PS Radcliffe for me tomorrow, anyone else going?
  11. Great cheap double-sider from me today.First up is an evergreen oldie that was a Wheel oldie I think (I'm sure one of the older boys will let me know if I'm wrong )??T'other side has had the odd play but not as many as it should have imo, maybe time yet. Spellbinders-Chain Reaction Columbia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zptKKLgGrGA Spellbinders-A Little On The Blue Side Columbia Cheers Martyn
  12. Dave/Rob There's an interview in Soul Up North fanzine with Steve Alimo who was an artist but probably better known as a producer said in the article that it is 98% song 2% artist & this is born out when you get great songs covered & they all sound great..............I've heard loads of versions of "Fever" even instrumentals & have yet to hear a bad one.........."Comin' Home Baby" is another.I suppose that's why some of the writers are so highly thought of. Cheers Martyn
  13. Paul Bloody hell I've come out in a sweat just thinking about dancing to this........up-tempo girlie dancer indeed Cheers Martyn
  14. Up-tempo girlie dancer from me today.Plenty of plays on the nighter scene awhile back, well worth a reactivation I think. The footage shows it on Shurfine label whereas mines on Josie,I was told the Josie copy is a stronger recording but not got a Shurfine copy to compare????? The Ravenettes-Since You Been Gone Josie Cheers Martyn

  19. Dave Happy days............I wonder if that tactic will still work...........swapping my cholesterol tablets for a box of records doesn't have the same ring though does it Cheers Martyn

  21. Dave I'm in your gang, one of the great Wigan tunes.Managed to track one down before Christmas. Cheers Martyn
  22. Great to see this finally stepping out of the shadows of "Good Times,Bad Times" (which is a brilliant record I might say)& getting the odd play, potentially could go I think or will suffer from the "too cheap" syndrome? The Vanguards-The Thought Of Losing Your Love Lamp https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yb3Ji6_TUFo Cheers Martyn
  23. One of the all time greats?A proper stomper. So cheap you'll get one for a pint & a packets of cheese & onion crisps. Al Green-Let Me Help You Bell Cheers Martyn
