  1. Everyone's entitled to there opinion, and i respect that myself, but i see you put Dj's and Record sellers as giving more to Soul than an Artist. IMHO should be the other way round.
  2. Your right it was only done as a Gimmick for Soul in the Sun. Tommy wrote the words himself and has put it on a Cd, but its not for general release. The words reflect his observations of Soul in the Sun
  3. I cant understand some of the contributors on this thread, you either like it, or you don't, but there's no need to be disrespectful of a man, who has contributed to the soul scene more than all of you put together. Its called Respect, which unfortunately is very lacking in society today. I for one wish Tommy all the respect in the world as he is a True gentleman.

  7. My Soul experience started at Mirrion St Youth Club, Crewe in 1972 and listened to Here I go again from the wonderful Archie Bell. That was it, I was hooked and went out and bought it. The only other Soul Club in Crewe at the time was Up The Junction, but I was only 14 and couldn't get in, but kept trying to no avail . 1973 came with the opening of Wigan Casino, so me and a few mates went up there and Bingo, we were in . After a few months the Police realised about the Drug culture there and had everyone from Crewe lined up on the Station top to be searched. That was my defining moment, as I had previously worked as a school boy for the head of the drug squad on his farm, so all the dealers gave me there drugs knowing full well he wouldn't search me (Priceless) Still to this day its in my blood till the day I die. Soul that is and not Drugs.
  8. Could'nt agree more Richard. I stayed in on NYE for the first time in my life due to ill health, but i have to say it brightened up my night no end.
  9. Hi Cunnie. Have to agree, he did a good job last night and must have done a fair bit of research for the info he gave out. How's the bad head today ? if its anything like mine, you will need dark glasses.

  23. Hi All Full details of the Rally have now been published at www.valhallarun.com The start of the Rally is in Copenhagen and the finish is in Helsinki via Sweden & Norway. Getting to the start in a £100 car is a tough job in itself, never mind driving round half of the Artic circle. Getting back from Finland is another epic journey. travelling through Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany and France. Not sure of the milage but it must be close to 2000 miles and all in a rusty Triumph 2000 bought for £100 pounds. We must be mad !!!!! What have i let myself in for !!!!! Anyway if there's anyone out there that would like to sponsor us, no matter how small your donation, as Tesco would say "Every little helps" you can do at www.justgiving.com/brav
  24. Nice one mate. Just thought of one myself, how about this Team name Ric-Tic Rust Bucket Come on all you soulies out there, Give us a few funny team names related to the soul scene.
