  1. Hi Ady. First off i have never been to the 100 club or know you. The 100 club for me is about 180 mile's to far south for me so am unlikely to go. I can make a comparison with the Twisted Wheel thou as a venue thats Iconic, not got a great dance floor and occasionally drunk non soulies attending but it has never affected attendance in fact it just keeps on growing in popularity to the point of around 700 on a sunday afternoon and 2 to 3 hundred for the nighters. So you have to ask yourself what are they doing right that you should be doing !!!! I think the answer is promoting. Pete Roberts and John Green have put there Heart and Soul into Promoting .As they still use the same music policy of the 60,s and more or less the same Dj's with 1 guest each month. Hope i haven't come across as arrogant and condescending, its just me looking in from the outside. Regards. Brav
  2. Me too, supposed to fly out friday but fingers crossed.
  3. Hi Rob. With you every step of the way mate. They cant blame it on cut backs as what are they going to do !!! shut down the station for 2 hours on a friday night ? or will they just continue there quest for 24 hr main stream pop. We pay our money to pay there wages and we deserve some diversity in music. Brav
  4. Just signed. Having been a guest on the show a few times to Highlight my charity work and Promote soul nights it seems a real shame that they should scrap it. I have also met so many Soulies throu there message board and made some lifelong friendships. They have played some dam good soul too. Come on The Beeb get your F**king Act together as we pay your wages.
  5. I thought i had added a poll but its not worked. The Poll was 1) Prime Minister 2) 20 mil lottery winner 3) George Cross 4) MBE. 5) Sweet FA
  6. I dont know Pete but i would award him the top 4 options for what he has done. Regards. Brav
  7. You've hit the nail on the head with that Drew. I myself don't know fingers but have been in the same position as him this year and believe me its not nice. I have now turned the corner with lots of help from my Northern Soul mates and can now sleep at night knowing that some scumbag debt collector is'nt trying to break my front door down or even terrified to anwser the phone. So chin up fingers, your on the Right Track to sorting it out. KTF Brav
  8. Nice one Pete, have paypaled you. Brav

  10. Hi Mace. Yes it was the Northward as i had hired it for my 50th birthday a few years before the incident under different management and they insisted i pay for a bouncer to satisfy the council and police in Crewe and it applies to all venues in crewe. And as far as i'm aware the club lost there license for a single infringement of the law. They did eventually get i license back but they weren't given a music license back so it was the death of the club. The same rules applied at The MMU events that i ran as they were told by the council and police i must have bouncers. The room hire there was £100 but i had to pay £500 in bouncers pay, it was 2 bouncers per 100 people. Regards Brav
  11. I'm afraid its the law at any venue that the Police and Local council enforce upon you, and any venue that has not got bouncers is breaking the law. In Crewe at our local working men's club where we had our Soul Nights, they had hired the room out for someone's birthday party and apparently all hell broke out and the next day they had there licence taken off them because there were no bouncers employed. The club has now closed and been demolished.
  12. Hi Dave. Fastest by Royal Mail is called Airsure and its supposed to be 1 day quicker than Standard Airmail, its also tracked and signed for and insured. It costs £4.50 plus your standard Airmail charge. Dont know how quick it will be as Royal Mail are on strike till tomorrow. Regards. Brav

  17. I would say that The Wheel by a million miles has to be the first rare soul nighter followed by The Torch and then Up The Junction, Crewe. All three were running from the mid 60ts to early 70ts Brav
