  1. Bought it as a new uk release in the Lighting centre Petticoat Lane London E1 . Ah memories, also bought loads of new US imports from there including Benny Troy @ 0.75p (I think) How ahead of my time was I ? Razzy ? £100 & it's yours Stubbsie Hope you're well mate long time no see Sorry for jumping on your wants post
  2. mine too although only got mine 9/10 years ago
  3. No i know mate but somebody is trying to as per your link I probably shouldn't have posted on your sales post anyway, sorry
  4. Used to play it at Solid Hit a few years back to very little dance floor action A great record possibly still semi known ? (or maybe not ) ............ but £350 !!!!!!!!!!!! It's a bit of a tough one but 350 ?????
  5. 75 quid !!!!!!!!!!! That's just ridiculous
  6. I've had mine since the early 80s & it's version 1, No 3 I don't think I've ever heard before, the vocal is so different ! I don't actually notice any difference with the sax break as mentioned in the discogs listing & not sure that there is any difference re the handclaps. Mick could be right in that version 1 is a slightly "softer" mix but again as Mick says it could just be the recording level on you tube. To my ears & they are old & rather battered but it seems to me that the instrumentation, the girls vocals & the handclaps are all the same & I wonder if Lou simply recorded at least one of the versions singing to the already recorded backing track & his vocal is the only difference ?
  7. Does anybody have results of the auction 24th August please Thanks
  8. https://www.ebay.com/itm/WALTER-THE-ADMERATIONS-MAN-OF-MAN-7-45-PRIVATE-SOUL-FUNK-REISSUE-/322207587474 Somebody on FB has said it's part of a legal box set reissue Comments ? Apologies if this has already been raised, I couldn't see a thread.
  9. Found this fellow on top of a light behind me in a taverna in Corfu, lucky enough to catch him/her feeding on flies etc attracted to the light
  10. like the "extended" mix of Epitome of Sound, which is just a bit of guitar added to the beginning. to my ears it just doesn't fit, the first time i listened to it I thought wtf ! The second (& last time ever) I just laughed at how awful it was.
  11. This is now sold. Ellis Pickford & Coffey - Reach Right Out - Cal Mint minus - Recent 100 club play Rare & brilliant. £120 includes next day delivery in UK - Cheque or Paypal Friends please. Thanks for looking
  12. So when did this go up? Went to the post office this morning with a tenner in my pocket for the £7.25 postage on next day delivery. Asked for next day & they said is that next day saturday or next day monday ? What ??????????? Apparently £7.25 now only covers Monday to Friday, if a saturday is involved it is counted as a non working day even though the normal post is delivered on a saturday. So now, after I offered next day delivery free as part of the sale I wasn't able to keep my side of the bargain because i didn't have enough money with me & of course next day monday is actually next day tuesday because of the Bank Holiday. Rant over though still p'd off
  13. how much did the Ronnie Forte go for ? Thanks
  14. As good as it gets (for me anyway)
  15. Or Willie Kendrick ?
  16. Thanks all that's what I thought, same take just a change of name on a different label
  17. Another one on manships auction, funnily enough I was playing the Rivieras version last night while sorting records for Solid Hit tomorrow. Drawn to his auction by the other thread (Fantastic four) I see that he has Proto Jays You Counterfeit Girl & lists it at "So much rarer take". Now by that I'm reading that it's an alternative take (could be me ?) not just a different label with different group but to my ears it's exactly the same. I'm sure this has been done before but can somebody tell me if my ears are failing ? Thanks
  18. You bugger I think when I bought it though, it was still a big tune but definitely uncovered. Wasn't really covered up at Stafford though was it ?
  19. Where is the Lamar label from ? There was a Barons on there as well " A teardrop fell for me"
  20. Manship was selling it on USA well before Stafford (£15 )
  21. Was only certain days of the week as well I think, & your right he could keep talking for ages once he started Sold me a boot once as an original, he apologised but said i could have a refund but he'd never sell me another record or I could leave the money with him as credit against future buys
  22. It was also on Behind a painted smile album on UK Tamla Motown, which I think may have been a repackaged version of On The Rocks as I think it has all of the same tracks but in a different order With Painted Smile first track side one. Not sure what year it was released but I bought it in a big WH Smith sale that they had at London Bridge station either 71 or 72
  23. RIP Toby, a proper character & as others have said always full of stories & a gent to boot, a sad day
