  1. Yes certainly a strange one this, Freddie Mercury lookalike barstaff, the mirrowed urinals hmm Also the toilets were labelled (I'm sure) Male & Non-Male ! Stands to reason I guess given their normal clientele. Bizarely also remember falling asleep on the train home & waking up in Petts Wood without any money & no way of getting home except walking. Proved a little difficult as I'd never been to Petts Wood in my life & had no idea how to get home
  2. Checked & it's 56, found the white one & it's the same (as everybody else has mentioned)
  3. Blimey Tony I was there on the first night as well, how come we've avoided bumping into each other all those years ( or was that on purpose ? ) I've also got the Yate anniversary ticket Nos 001 & 002 how sad is that ...mind you I'd probably been hanging around for about 3 hours Did have my orange card to hand a few weeks ago but I must have put it into "storage" pretty sure it was either 54 or 56. Also have a white one which I'll have to dig out & check
  4. Has been around for years and played on and off for years. Got a bit of a revival if I remember rightly in the days of the Dome from Dave Flynn
  5. What kind of fool am I thats worth a lot as well
  6. I wondered where the Gene reference came from ? He must think you look alike Stuart
  7. No prob Simsy It's yellow by the way
  8. I've an issue bought many blue moons ago for 50p but even these days thought it was only a 10/15 quidder ? & from the few I've seen on lists so do other people 50quid ???? very overpriced i would say but then what do I know ?
  9. Cheers Paul , that was where I probably saw it then All Best Dave
  10. I thought it was someone else ? (just in case you think you undercharged me & want a bit more )
  11. Hi Paul thanks for reply, I actually picked up an issue a year or 2 ago for £40 & was astonished to see it for sale at 10 times that a few months back & wondered if it was a misprint Iin view of what you say, probably somebody chancing their arm & possibly worth somewhere between that & the price of the demo. Tho' would be interested to know what you got for it if you want to pm me. Slightly cheeky I know & you could rightly tell me to mind my own business thanks again Dave
  12. Totally totally agree on this Baz, it all comes down to lack of imagination & lazyness
  13. Sorry no time to wade through all the postsbut............. Original acetates I quite agree James & of course nobody should be playing boots etc vinyl carvers of issued stuff etc etc but......... I have used this example to friends for so long I'm sure they're all pissed off with it/me ; The Johnny Howard is a prime example of the sheep mentality on the northern scene, I was playing Chase is on at the first Soul in the city (& bought it about '78) to about 50 people hardly anybody danced. Butch plays it a couple of times & all of a sudden you can't move for people dancing to it everywhere as though once a name has played it, it gives everybody the "Yes It's ok to dance people" If I want to play Johnny Howard I will if I want to make an ash tray out of it I will
  14. Terribly sad !
  15. Because the Artistics is quite nice whereas Johnny Howard is a storming dancer that pizzes all over the Artistics (who I think are brilliant by the way) of course in my humbler than thou opinion
  16. Who by ?
  17. Yes you're right Dave, I believe there was a bunch of records involved
  18. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha aren't most things in the famous 5 (00) book contact the people with quotes attached to their names. (sorry I know this has been gone over previously but it gets my goat)
  19. Blimey I better get my eyes tested & the colour sorted on my TV The label looked more red than pink & I assumed it was the bootleg of Alfie D. Ha ha how firkin naive to think thay were actually playing a record on the decks .........oh dear oh dear !
  20. After the weeping & wailing at the sadness of losing Martin Thomson who has taken a step back from promoting/DJing for a while the search was on for a top class replacement. To be honest it was an easy decision & as a regular supporter & resident record salesman at Solid Hit we hoped that he would agree to bring his fantastic play box along to become our new Resident DJ/Promoter. Fortunately the man from Gloucester ..he say yes! So we are absolutely delighted to announce that our new man on the decks is Des Parker. Anyone who has seen Des play will know just what a great set he regularly knocks out & we are all looking forward to hearing his sets on a regular basis. Hopefully I can get Des to stick a few of his current plays up here....see you in April Dave
