  1. I've got one so thats about 3 that we know of Were either side played at Wigan (or anywhere else) can't remember when they came out '75 ? imo 2 tremendous tracks but never heard either out apart from when i played Jackie Lee at SITC a few times a couple of years ago
  2. Must have been played somewhere as i bought a copy around the time of release unless that modern scallywag at the time Steve G recommended it or it was reviewed in BlackBeat ? I don't know, piece of pap anyway imo of course (only joshing Stubbsie)
  3. Yeah I think the bad heads was due to them never cleaning the pipes, I always had a headache after the Dome, mind you I did get slightly tipsy on occasion (but not every time ) But yes great times & without doubt my favourite night anywhere since getting back on the scene 8 years ago - cheers fellers
  4. I think there's a guy who records & sells dvds & videos of soul night/niters. Somebody on here must know him. Having said that I don't think he had the last Dome on his list, so if anybody can help Derek with a copy can they help me as well please thanks
  5. pmsl .............mind you happens all the time I expect, I remember 2 or 3 prestatyns ago somebody (who posts on here) told me "I've just been talking to Pete Smith for the last hour" when I asked where he was he pointed at you
  6. For some reason I can't enlarge the pic but the guy in the orange shirt is Tony but the other details are correct, teacher lives in Hackney, used to go with Sue. He's still on the scene in London & is a regular at Solid Hit, good bloke
  7. I did go regularly (good job you didn't go every week Mal as it was only on Bi monthly ) & I never heard the zzzzzz factor. All nighters ? Hmmmm Ady & Mal comments? spot on as usual
  8. Brilliant Club, rarely missed a night, it was that good (the original CSC at Shoreditch was my first Northern night in 15 years & convinced me that I needed to get back into it ) & when it moved to the Dome just took off big time! & at the same time Scenesville which ran on alternate months also was of a very high standard musicaly & atmosphere tho' the Dome shaded it. Once Greg & Dave left it seemed to go very slowly downhill despite Alan H & Carl still producing the goods. I think the reason why you never see a lot of punters from those days was that people travelled from around the country for these nights as well as "non soulies" who just enjoyed the music turning up (never to be seen again ). Yes Matt certainly seemed to have a lot of energy didn't he haven't heard that he was in Oz & saw him "fairly recently" ? possibly last 6/9 months (but time goes so quickly so could be more than that) but yes Dave F. is in Japan.
  9. Yeah I picked up a demo for 25 off of Phil Raines (I think) great double sider played a few times at Solid Hit 75 bit overpriced I think ! Quality yes.......... rare ?
  10. Probably slightly more frequent than Shades tho Paul (I think, or maybe I just don't see Shades as much? ) not that it matters .... 2 very good reads
  11. Or the best of the lot (imo) Soul Renaissance available from Martyn Bradley. Unfortunately only occasional issues (same as Shades) but very worthwhile. I'll sort Martyns address out & post it though I have 2 copies left of the last issue for sale £4 plus postage. Top read Blues & Soul ? See Dave Rimmers comments tho essential reading in the 70s. I've about 10 years worth from '71 onwards, anyone wanna make an offer for 'em? Need the space
  12. Didn't come see etc get released around 71/72 when he seemed to have a different motown song released everyweek on different labels ?
  13. With you on that Bearsy, Pete is to my mind ( & apologies to anyone else as I don't check every sales list) the most reasonably priced regular seller on here. I 've certainly never had a problem buying from Pete unlike some of the "bigger" names around
  14. Yeah got mine from there, it was the stall outside Cheapo Cheapos, & at various times was "run" for Cheapos by a very young bunch of chappies, Ady Croasdell, Tony Rounce & Ian Clarke. Wonder what happened to 'em Great place for picking up boots (I was almost young) & cheap originals. Oh happy days, young & fairly innocent
  15. Sitting in a bar in Corfu about 3 years ago watching a very dull Charlton game (shuddup those shouting all charlton games are dull ....especially Steve G ) the barstewards wouldn't turn the music down as it was only Charlton so had to put up with house/rnb/garage shit (or modern as some people call it ) when up pops Jimmy Radcliff Long after tonight etc I almost fell off my stool although that may have been 'cause Charlton won a corner. Afterwards straight back to the other stuff ...bizarre
  16. toooooo late
  17. Yeah good record Chalky, I used to play it down at SITC, just gets lost a little half way through I think before picking up again
  18. Blimey forget the 250 Kirsty I'll let you do it for nothing
  19. It's all relative really Mischief, to somebody on the dole anything is expensive. Not me by the way as I'm back amongst the tax payers
  20. I certainly think a lot of DJs lack any sort of initiative but do have big bank balances & so can buy the currently popular big plays or tips from mags or perhaps suggestions on here. They just don't have the gumption to play things that won't instantly pack the floor zzzzzzzzzzzzzz Nothing wrong with cheap records & as Chalky says there are actually loads of cheapies that the majority of people don't know, some of us don't have a reputation (at least not a good one ) so couldn't give a shit
  21. I agree with you here, and that is where I think Butch takes most credit these days, if I had a 10th of his collection (100th even?) I dont think I would ever buy another record, just live off the land. However I think this is where Butch shows he is top of the game, if he doesnt have it and its good enough he still wants it and he wants to expose it, seems to be no ego around it other than he wants to have the best records available, and his taste on this is normally again beyond question. Have to say Jocko I doubt many would fall in line with your view on this point. If you collect records the buzz is all about the next purchase, you never tire of wanting something new, something different, or is that just me? unless you're a top 500 buyer only of course (That's a collective you not aimed direct at Jocko )
  22. Fairly boring or at least it was the last time that I played it many moons ago 40quid ? Blimey anyone want mine ?
  23. Which bloody 70s tune on Blue Candle Ian ?
  24. I've got a few old manship lists from early 80s, can't scan 'em but on one is Don & Ron for a tenner .......... somebody got a bargain
