  5. Ebay access denied for me @ work but presume this is Standing at a standstill ? Gave you one ? I feel hard done by paying manship a fiver back in about '81 (?)he he £300 really ? Thought it was about 200 (just off the top of my head not arguing ) Think people always regard this as a Stafford sound but wasn't it played the tail end of Wigan ?
  6. Most of the overplayeds are great Steve, that's why those without too many brain cells keep playing them & requesting 'em...........& that's why some of us are just so pizzed off with hearing them that we slag 'em .........or maybe thats just me ?
  7. Think it was 5 copies Ady, I remember the photo Hope you're well mate

  9. Wasn't/isn't Act 1 Goodbuy Love the b side of Tom the Peeper which was a massive disco hit on import in London ? (damn giving away my bloody age again )
  10. Have to say I'm amazed that it's at that price, I honestly would have thought Mals estimated price would of been about "right" Great tune.....just glad I bought mine in the 70s, possibly from one Mr T Rounce @ Cheapos Cheapos ?
  11. ==== here i am (waiting to be loved) is a great side! much better than the a side imo never heard out either of them to be honest was the secrets a torch spin?
  12. Yes it's Des that plays it at Solid Hit, it's certainly legit we don't play anything else at SHS I thought from conversation with Des that it was a company acetate but I'm sure he will be on here sooner or later to clear that up (my memory isn't the best)
  13. not heard herby brown for yonks,it was roundabout that time, now it fetches a blooming bomb probably the 2k on a push, would love a posted soundclip if possible, what a find. baz a
  14. My best blind buy was 10 or 20p for Herby Brown on Blue Ash, must have been about the time of issue as it was around 80/81, how it found it's way to Chapel Street market in London who knows? Took it home along with some other interesting looking labels, most turned out to be C&W etc. Thought HB was OK, stuck it in a box for 20 years, played it out a couple of times in the early 2ks to no interest & one day found it listed in Manships price guide. ££££ Also got a Tom Emmanual from the same shop for the same 10/20p price, lots of cheap Motown US stuff & other bits & pieces hmm what else was there? They had no listening facilites which was just as well as I doubt that I would have bought Herby Brown if I had heard it first
  15. Can't knock the record Bearsy NOT that I have any desire to hear it out. does that answer your question ? ha ha hows the knee mate?
  16. Treading water Bearsy ? With that sort of outlook sooner the bugger drowns the better
  17. Brilliant record, heard on a few occasions that Harry Is Harry Starr, can anyone confirm ?
  18. Are you talking armchair listening or galloping around the dance floor 'cause surely "Ting a ling a loo" is a bit slow ?
  19. Isn't she a Pretty Girl much the better side, only heard it in recent years, Martin Thomson used to play it a lot at SITC & occasionaly at Solid Hit
  20. Thats strange, I used to work with a bloke who used to run a night named after a Belle & Sebastian record & they played the same mix as above. Think it used to be in Farringdon, can't remember his name but indirectly he was responsible for me getting back on the scene. He showed me a newsletter that he used to produce & it mentioned that they played northern. I said I used to be into it & did him a couple of tapes & he asked me to write a bit for his news letter. He then went on to change it, substituting ambience for atmosphere ( or should that be the other way round?) etc ...firkin twat. But through talking to him about the scene it pricked my interest, so when I read that there was a northern night in Soho, out of interest I popped along ........oh dear what a pile of the mucky stuff but I met mad Janet & Ben who kept pestering me to come to a proper do which was how I ended up at the CSC in Shoreditch..... & I promised myself I wouldn't start buying any more records
  21. OK thanks for that
  22. PERCY MILEM - CALL ON ME - GOLDWAX - EX. d/h (nice RnB track) £100. Apologies for jumping on this thread, but anyone have a price for a Goldwax demo of this fine track ? It's the yellow/white label with promotional copy printed on ? Thanks
  23. Why would anyone want to release this ? Surely there was no demand ? As mentioned previously it's a pop/soul record, quite pleasant but more pop than soul imo
  24. You're not wrong there John, thats why I don't want to hear 70s/80s when I go out
