How recently ? I had one a few months ago @ 30 but it's gone now tho I imagine there's been more on here since dave
  2. At 30 quid I'm amazed that Frank Polk hasn't flown out the door !!!! Saw it at £100 recently
  3. Bought my copy in the same shop I found Herby Brown about '81 (either 10 or 20p can't remember which). Do recall manship having one in the last few years for 300, whether he sold it or not is another matter. Have to say the ones I've seen for sale in the 2/3 years have been 100/150 certainly no more
  4. Cheers Tabs, superb Used to play both sides of this at Soul in The City a few years back. Is that the Andantes singing backing vocals ?
  5. Even in London promotion was very poor.....or maybe it was just me not paying attention & as the Jazz cafe appears to have been a packer perhaps the promotional side was good enough, wondr about the other venue with all the artists on together? (didn't know about that one either?)
  6. Lack of advertising maybe ?..........or rather advertising somewhere soul fans may see it. RBman mentioned it to me otherwise I wouldn't have known it was on. Also I believe tickets were £25+ ? not a huge amount when you consider what people pay for records but may seem expensive to some?

  8. Despite my tongue firmly in cheek comment earlier, I actually own & quite like this record but I fail to see how it's the Northern Scenes ( I assume by that you mean generally 60s) loss in not playing it when it was played widely back in the 80s. If as seems likely you're an exponent of the more "modern" sounds, instead of playing old 80s (disco) sounds ( & taking cheap shots at the northern scene) why not search out something new, after all the the very nature of the modern scene must make the possiblities endless ?

Somebody was asking about Nick Brown recently (can't remember who sorry) well he turned up at Solid Hit Soul on Friday, told me it was his first Soul do in 2 years. Dawn & family are all well & they're actually still living in Plumstead despite rumours that they'd moved out. Always good to see Nick & he was looking well, said he'd missed getting out & about, thoroughly enjoyed Solid Hit & hoped to be able to get out again soon. He's changed his email address but is going to let me know his new one................
  10. So even disco records had their uses

  12. VERY pissed off ! spent an age trying to describe the difference between my version & the ones that you have posted Tony & something went wrong when posting it leaving this page blank, really fkd off Anyway here we go again, briefly this time, mine is slightly more uptempo, drums busier & more prominent & seems a more meaty version though listening to yours on mini computer speakers could be the reason that it seems more lightweight. Girlie chorus more involved on mine throwing in a few "yeah......yeah yeahs" On your clips (which sound very similar/identical?) Lou takes their place with mmm mmms, yeahs etc. The intros are different, mine kicks in with "Yeah I watched you etc" rather than yours with "mmm mmmm girl said I watched you" also on yours when singing the title he tends to raise or lower his voice on certain words. Sorry mate can't do mp3s etc happy to play it over the phone though ? As to Lou singing off key, while they may be old & past their best not to these ears he isn't ! & I like Howard Guytons version........nowhere near as good as Lous though
  13. Will have a listen tonight Tony
  14. Manship lists 2 mixes (1st & 3rd) sure I remember reading somewhere there were 3 mixes released. Have to say Tony that is completely different version to mine (think mine is 3rd not sure too late to start looking now) LCs vocal & phrasing sound very different. Prefer mine but I've had it almost 30 years so I'm very used to it Interesting
  15. pmsl it's nothing to do with fairness. The blokes a businessman & it's about him making as much money out of stupid people as he can
