  1. Anyone know /remember what this went for on manship auction recently ? Thanks
  2. Ah when I said play it this weekend i meant in my record room Social media is a good reason to NOT play it out, I'll choose what I play & I don't play follow the leader Mind you only played out once in last two years so not too much of a problem there
  3. Years since I played mine, got it from manship late 70s £3 or £4 I think ...... w/d perfect clean label mint vinyl. must dig it out & give it a spin over the weekend
  4. Thanks all for replies, I thought it was a Stafford play, wrong again Greenhill !!!
  5. Sorry to appear to go off the subject but it is actually related. Did Searling play Marvin Gaye Love Starved Heart at Wigan or was it a Stafford play ?
  6. Such a long time ago & my memory isn't at it's best but wasn't this on a Sunday with very little promotion (possibly put on at the last minute) & he refused to go on because there weren't many people there ?
  7. Popped into an electrical shop in Clapham Junction mid to late 70s, memory is shot can't remember exact year, one side of the shop sold radiograms, record players etc & for the life of me I can't remember what was on the other side but they had a small box of records, all ex chart stuff & stuck in the middle was a mint copy of Frank Dell He broke your game wide open for a quid. Where do these odd copies appear from ???? at the time that was Clarkie territory as well A few weeks later I popped back, the singles had gone but there was a box of Albums, full of crap of course ........... except for a mint copy on Okeh of Billy Butler Right Track album, can't remember how much but sure it was less than the Frank Dell.
  8. Larose Phillips Sure I saw one of these for £75 in the last week ? I was going to say never an auction item but its just made twice it's value
  9. Yes good sound, used to play this at Solid Hit
  10. They weren't at nights i was involved in however there are many that just don't care. Instant promoter/dj with a box of boots. Fortunately they don't seem to last long.
  11. It was released in the UK for the Northern market, if you want to play ovo go & buy an Okeh copy or the thousands of other great original records that are out there, otherwise you may just as well play boots.
  12. Again two good sides but is it that tough to find a copy ? Wouldn't have thought an auction item ................................. but what do I know ? I know I bought an issue about 10 years ago around 30 ish quid Which is rarer Demo or Issue ?
  13. 2 great sides, Lonely Boy a big play for Roger Banks wasn't it ? I did actually buy it for Lonely Boy having forgotten what an awesome tune Quicksand is
  14. Surely it still is ??????
  15. Posted this before but hey ho, not a car boot but found a copy of Herby Brown One more broken heart Blue Ash for 10/20p 1980/81 in a record shop in Chapel Street market London, looked interesting got it home played it & stuck it in a box for about 30 years. Saw it in a Manship price guide @ 2k played it out a couple of times & no one made one comment about it. Bet if I'd played it 10 years later once it was a "big" sound some of those same people would be flocking around by then it had gone for a nice little profit. Agreed price of £1600 (Someone abroad) & they cleaned their local bank of Sterling so took £1590
  16. I remember a similar thread donkeys years ago & there was talk of a fake Nashville Matrix on the green boot
  17. Thought I read Tobi L was played & dropped at Blackpool Mecca, even then I think it was only hearsay as in " I'm sure I heard at Mecca"
  18. Bobby Angelle - Too much for you - Money Mint minus - Fabulous condition £167 includes next day insured postage in UK (Posting abroad will be signed for & more expensive) Payment by cheque or Paypal Friends & Family / or pay fees please. Please PM if interested Thanks for looking Dave
  19. I go back to my post isn't this what we all do ? I've lost count of the amount of times I've been out & heard a great record & it's like what the fuck is this, you find out (hopefully) & first thing is ask any dealers if they have a copy, if not the next day the hunt is on. I think everyone I've ever known on the scene had that attitude. (Apart from Mikey Gibbs ) Its that excitement, that addiction, that fanaticism that helped develop our great scene into what it is...................... or at least what it used to be.
  20. I just don't get this thread. Isn't it what we all do, we hear a record & decide I must have that & we go & buy it or at least begin the hunt
  21. It's a yes from me, I do like to see playlists from around the country just to see what's being played but I think quite a few people "protect" their playlists from the cheque book DJs. This may seem selfish & maybe it is but I used to spend a lot time trying to find records that weren't generally known to a lot of people only to get some cheque book DJ come up & ask what something was & 2 weeks later would be playing it in his set & then reading comments on his set complimenting him on his good taste I guess all DJs have to put up with that & some will say we should all share the info but whats the point if we all end up playing the same records ? Just as an aside on similar line i used to attend a nite regularly & was asked by promoter/DJ if I fancied doing a spot, when I said yes they asked for a tape/cd of the sort of stuff I play (should of smelt a rat) next time I went to the club the same person played half a dozen tracks that I had put on a cd for them. of course it could have been coincidence.
  22. Surely everyone knows that a demo sounds better than the issue otherwise why do so many people write demo beside the label when posting play lists ?
  23. Thanks Steve hope you're well. haha you're probably right mate but doubt I'd be able to pick up the bar let alone the weights I do use it hand held though prefer to stick it on a tripod when able to, think it was the wind blowing as much as anything & being on uneven footing at the base of the cliffs ................ that's my excuse anyway.
