  1. Pretty Sure Stuart still has this, so if you hear it out it's a fucking carver
  2. Yes sounds like it should be hundreds, great sound
  3. The yellow copies were allegedley legit 2nd presses by the label owner .............& for that reason some dealers were charging £50 ....for a 2nd issue
  4. Don't do anything Pete except contact paypal via their website. A couple of months ago (& it was almost certainly my own fault not concentrating) I tried to log into what I thought was paypal site & I actually received a warning message asking whether I wanted the official site, sorry can't remember full details but if in the slightest doubt leave it out
  5. Cheers Salmon
  6. Blimey Tony was that the shop that doubled up as an electrical appliance shop ( radiograms, lighting etc probably other stuff as well it was pretty big from memory) I got a mint Frank Dell He broke your game & mint Billy Butler Right track album on Okeh from there probably '76/78 ?
  7. Haven't the faintest idea how to Joan, let me have a listen & if it doesn't slow down I'll see what i can do x
  8. I've never noticed Either mine doesn't or time to dig the cotton buds out
  9. Nah can't have been last year Salmon must be 2 years ago happy 50th by the way Some rate it @ 75 some double that........I was very happy to finally get one, as Salmon says not easy to find (well wasn't for me anyway) dogs danglers imo
  10. Not that I'm the slightest bit interested in going to one but how are you "rewriting history" you can't play every record ever played there & perhaps the DJs involved are playing their own favourite casino memories & to them it may not include pop music whether it's a good dancer or not ?
  11. Just because you "work in the Legal Profession" don't try to pick holes in my timings. From the time I noticed your gobbledy gook to the time i actually posted my reply makes no difference, why would I have need to refer back to something I had just read ? I didn't realise my typing speed was being assessed. You edited your post I thanked you You're quite correct over the rafters matter but packed to the ceiling didn't quite have the same ring. I take it you'll be pulling up all the promoters who claim that their night was packed the atmosphere & music was amazing & the dance floor was heaving all night ? Now could you just clear up what you mean by this from your original post "in the death throws of *** is was down to about 10" eh ? Oh ....bugged off now I'm back Apologies Mischief for wrestling with RBMan on your thread
  12. But you hadn't when I posted Martin otherwise i would have no need to post Thanks for editing
  13. Excuse me Martin have you taken leave of your senses ? SHS is not a midweek venue & never has been & neither is it in its death throws. We are possibly one of the few clubs that aren't experiencing a downswing in attendances. (Going by the doom & gloom on this site regarding empty clubs) Quite the opposite in fact our attendances are on the up possibly due to the excellent resident DJs & guests on offer resulting in people travelling from all over the south east plus frequent visitors from the midlands + occasional visitors from the North East & Yorkshire, hardly the sign of A CLUB IN IT'S DEATH THROWS. For anybody interested in attending an upbeat club to listen & dance to true 60s underplayed /semi knowns, Unreleased acetates, mixed in with some current niter sounds I doubt you'll find better than Solid Hit Soul ......& no the club isn't empty but packed to the rafters. Next one is 4th June
  14. Dave who ? Martin Jo & Paul had a very succesful few years with TOS when a lot of people including myself were returning to the scene, small club great atmosphere getting so pissed you could hardly stand but still managed to dance great happy days When we started Soul in the City as a one off Xmas do intitially I think we had about 50 in for the 1st 2 or 3. After moving to Old Blue Last numbers were up & down, sometimes appalling sometimes good usually somewhere in between, a couple of well attended all dayers on Bank Holidays plus a very good one at St Alyosis (ok wrong spelling) but towards the end numbers were very low & for our last night when if memory serves me well Arthur Fenn & Maria spun some tunes Nige Brown was down & apart from the 4 of us who ran sitc very few others. Probably Stubbsy Geoff Green Audra Thomson, think there were 8 who weren't DJing. We moved to Nylon (Famous for the tv show with the likes of sam fox running a bar in a competition) & things just took off. Helped along by some piss taking suits we were getting 100/150 for a wednesday night & were the highlight of some more depressing nights but at the same time meeting what have become good friends. Out of the blue Nylon just dumped us & went bust soon after i believe, though i doubt the 2 were connected. Next stop was Vivos where healthy numbers continued for a while but gradually started going downhill. We did start having guests which made absolutely no difference so soon knocked that on the head & numbers were depressingly low on some nights plus we were fighting against the tide of suits down for a late night drink demanding to hear "something that they know" like britney, abba etc & not believing that we couldn't produce these artists records out of our 100/150 count boxes One quite irate chap got laid out for his troubles not by one of the DJs of course but he's still about .....or so I'm told. One night the old bill turned up flashed their warrant cards barked police & strode into the club, bloody hell it's a raid i thought but it turned out they were friends of the owner & too tight to pay 3 quid entrance fee for a late drink. Another night I was DJing & talking to Mac who made up the 4 of us who ran it & this pretty stunning young lady came & asked for something that i definately didn't have & I was trying to be the nice bloke chit chat chit chat (didn't work) when all of a sudden this horrific smell just about overpowered me. As she walked away I slated mac for farting right next to me while I was trying to chat up girlie, I thought it was you he said, it had been this dirty little bitch could have been marking her territory I suppose Anyway sorry drifted off subject slightly. Vivos closed for refurbishment so again we moved on, this time to the ditch bar in Shoreditch, by now numbers were pretty low although again attracting a few new people while close friends still attended & so even tho numbers were low, the music was good, & a lot of fun was had. Eventually it all came to a halt, no one was really interested in attending (outside our little group)& to be honest I don't see that anything has changed in the years since. Oh & yes we started more or less straight after work, 6.30 I think it was Sorry it's been more of a memory trip than anything constructive You'll only find out by giving it a go but money is tight & I for one rarely go out for a beer midweek anymore. Dave err GreenHILL Mikey pay attention
  15. That's the one thank you So ....same mix ?
  16. Released twice on 7" in UK both picture sleeves can't remember other label (doh!) are they the same mix ? I've never bothered to compare them Any difference in price ?
  17. Yes you're right ................still taking the piss tho' imo
  18. Funnily enough saw him in about '74/'75 when he may have been badly advised as half of his set seemed to be guitar solos ....I half expected jimmy page to walk out on stage as his guest. Was VERY disappointed
  19. I'm not talking of taking a sleeve off a perry como single & using it, but taking it off of reasonably high priced northern & selling seperately....allegedley. Taking the piss in my opinion
  20. 10 or 20p for my copy of Herby Brown on Blue Ash Same shop same price for Tom - Emmanuel & Ron Experience ....................this was back in 80/81 so Herby must have been a new release Gathered dust for 20/25 years & then took it out to play at the only 100% modern set I've ever played. No one took any notice of it so did it only become a good record when some top DJs started playing it & was discovered to be pretty rare ? (only joking!)
  21. I'm sure I heard of a major dealer taking all of his stock out of company sleeves putting the record in plain sleeves & then selling the sleeves seperately ??
  22. On Hold
  23. Stacy Lane - No Ending - Bar mint minus £425 includes Special Delivery postage....Cheques only unless buyer pays paypal fee Thanks for looking Dave
  24. Yes I had one of those off of you as well mate
