  1. Definately a small room upstairs, no funk when I was there:thumbsup: Thought it was just another oldies room tho could have been motown as I heard One way out for the first time:blush:
  2. Yes it was Cheapo Cheapos Kev & the stall stood right outside & it was Rupert Street mate
  3. Jon Buck used to run nights there but so did others among them Rob Messer or so I've been told. I was taking a break at that point The pub is still there & now owned by Oneils but is opposite St Pancras not Euston which is further up the road . The upstairs room was turned into a fringe theatre after Drummonds before reverting to it's previous use as a function room & we used it for Solid Hit for about 18 months. Was a brilliant venue until some arse decided to cover the stage with carpet, install 3 massive booths that you kinda lean against, stuck a couple of columns on the dance floor & brought in a stack of tables & chairs & called it a restaurant. Basically it became a grotty souless room where you could buy food from the downstairs menu & nobody bothered to go to. I've popped in a few times since & the most that have been enjoying the dining experience sat in front of a giant tv screen has been 3 people.....what a waste
  4. I think it's a great record, paid about £20 4/5 years ago but yes I was more than surprised to see it at £300 in manship On the other hand i've just sold something at 400+ which he rates at 75 ?????? & another copy went recently for 450 Dave
  5. Ah no sorry, when I said that i sent paypal the details I meant details of the email re account violation which I thought was dodgy not my details. I checked my paypal account & there was no message re that mail though it did mention the money laundering thing though to be honest I was only interested in withdrawing the money that had been paid in. I'll go back to it later for fuller details. Again thanks for all advice Dave
  6. Ha I believe that this is a bogus Kev Kent because the real one knows that I'm a firkin pauper. How you doing mate Seriously thanks for all advice, I am very careful & certainly wouldn't do anything over the phone. I received an email the other day advising Account Access Violated‏ asking me to confirm account details.I sent details to paypal & a couple of days later received an email from paypal.feedback@echosurvey.com with the message "On 06/15/2010 I replied to the email message you sent regarding your PayPal account. As part of PayPal's commitment to excellence, I want to make sure I met your needs in my response. Would you please take a minute to answer a few questions to let me know how I did?" Funnily enough I hadn't received a reply from paypal & I certainly wasn't going to click on a link from a survey company or a possible scammer. I think in future I'll ask for all payments to be sent cash in an envelope........seems safer somehow
  7. Has anybody else received this message ? I wouldn't mind but I rarely sell anything & if I do it's normally between 20 - 100 ish quid. Today I received a fair bit more but it's one transaction & only the second through paypal of any value in 2/3 months !!! You May Receive a Call from PayPal Customer Service A customer service representative may contact you by phone to request some additional information about your account. To continue using PayPal's service without interruption, you will need to answer a few questions about your account and you may be asked to complete a short series of steps on the PayPal website. The purpose of this is to verify your identity and business information, as applicable. PayPal has a legal obligation under EU anti-money laundering laws to collect and verify information from customers who have received a significant amount of money in payments over the lifetime of their account. Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation.
  8. Glad you mentioned the track "Tribe" Ian, I knew I had something by this group but couldnt for the life of me recall what it was. I've got it on US can't remember label but sure it's yellow & think it may be just 3 letters rather than an actual word ? Dave
  9. To be honest I think mr roberts relishes posts like these, he appears to work on the premise that no publicity is bad publicity as it gives him ample opportunity to constantly talk up his promotions, so I wouldn't worry too much about the original & subsequent posts. hail hail the king of northern soul ....lol
  10. I have to say i'm not really "up" on who's appearing live anywhere but where was this advertised ? We had this a year or so ago, an artiste was appearing live in London & yet hardly anyone knew about it. Bettye Lavette has connections over here & yet I didn't see anything on Soul Source advertising these gigs ?
  11. Any spare wristbands Robman ?
  12. ............. & so have I !!!!!!!! yes get in there ....& still got my original buyer wanting it Found it between 2 pieces of cardboard in a box of 400 despite going through it 4 or 5 times. Funnily enough after the first couple of times searching I was thinking "it ain't going to miraculously going to appear" .....& it eventually did ! Well happy Dave
  13. Anyone know the going price of this please ? Thanks Dave

  16. I stand corrected The only ones I've seen for sale have been 100ish & though I've heard Chalky play it at Lifeline wasn't aware of anyone else (apart from me occasionally) playing it so assumed it had remained around that price....I'm happy if it's increasing in value Dave are you saying there's different coloured copies of this release or for the label in general ? Thanks
  17. Cheers Haydn, interested in reading the sleeve notes atb Dave
  18. I've been playing it on & off for last 4 years at Solid Hit Funny you mention Stafford Chalky cause when I first played it (Solid Hit @Kings Cross) Gene Robertson bounded up onto the stage wanting to know what it was as he knew it from Stafford but only under the cover up name. I think £100 quid is about the going rate, though I do remember seeing one advertised about 3 years ago as a white demo for £500 !!!!!!!!! Is there a white demo or did someone assume because the label is white it was a demo Whats the Kelleys Heroes CD then ?
  19. Herby Brown One More Broken Heart Blue Ash................totally mint many years ago now, but sat unloved & gathering dust at the back of a box & left me wondering if I'd been ripped off for the 10 or 20 pence (can't remember which) it had cost me .....managed to sell it at a profit 4/5 years ago
  20. I'm still searching Was going through some records recently & decided to stick one up for sale. It happened to be on Phil Kowalski auctions so thought I should wait until his auction was over so I put it away somewhere safe. As soon as Phils sold mine went up for sale (for a few hundred quid) & I quickly came to a deal with a buyer who asked for a couple of weeks to get the cash together. No problem with that except when he came to pay I couldn't find the record Despite searching over & over again it has disappeared into thin air & absolutely no idea where it can be. Gutted as it was going to pay for flight & accomodation for a holiday Oh well
  21. Because they probably wouldn't get enough for a bag of chips at some events
  22. Ha you can hardly blame her can you ?
  23. It's the same as somebody playing a carver of a Butch exclusive .......ask him what he thinks Stuart has the acetate of this that he payed X amount of money for ........... do you play boots/reissues of expensive records ?
