    Sorry John I was answering a previous quote on the destruction of the historic Crystal Palace Exhibition Hall, Steve thought I was having a dig at the histerical cpfc & he responded with a hilarious play of words on the name of the current champions Charlton Athletic. Glad you got a copy John, you should of asked me at the 100club the other week when we were chatting about the 70s/80s gathering dust in my reject box ha ha

    I think you used to be "allowed" to phone on two days a week Mal but only something like between 2pm & 6pm possibly you phoned when the "office" was closed lol . If you was lucky to catch him on a good day he could actually be quite talkative. He certainly had a strange way of running his business tho, I bought something which was a bootleg (a very good one but no stamped matrix) he said that he didn't know it had been booted & said I could either have the credit or he would give me my money back but would never sell me another record ;-) If he is ill I certainly wish him well

    I've been in a venue with 3 or 4 on the floor the majorlty of the night & yet the promoter describing it afterwards as "dance floor rammed all night" does that count?

    Hi Paul how you doing Manship had it on his site for £300 for about 10 dog years, but one unbelievable day had a half price sale & so I grabbed mine for 150 (might even have been less somehow) still underplayed I think. I played mine at Amlwch bout 4years ago & was surprised at the "names" that didn't know it. A few have popped up in the last couple of years but never over the 150 mark ................just waiting for Butch to play it so the masses will know it's ok to dance to it

    Celestrals - Checkerboard Lover - Don El £20 That is a standout bargain, the other side is even better & i've often seen it for sale between 80 & 100 Even if you don't know it buy it , it really is that good In fact I played both sides early on at Solid Hit last week !!!

    Why should it limit what you have in your box ? I assume you mean you can't afford the top end stuff (not many can) but there are hundreds/thousands at the cheaper end which are just as good & so much that simply never gets played giving you the chance to play little heard stuff. Of course depends what sort of night you're DJing at I guess but even if it's an obvious oldies thing there's still plenty of cheapish stuff there to pick up.

    Apologies for going off topic but can someone steer me towards which is jthe better quality release to get of the Ad Libs Think of me ? Seem to recall the vinyl release was described as inferior to the styreen copy. Or am I barking ? Thanks woof

    Always the same ! Years back I used to play Johnny Howard The chase is on & nobody was really interested. Butch started playing it, price shot up & of course if i played it everyone wanted to dance to it. Do "DJs" announce Butch likes/plays this to get people up & dancing ?

    Soul City getting spins ? Both sides have been spun to death in the last 5 years - 2 great sides (as are the I & Scotts) but I'm so bored with them i can't even be bothered to listen when they come up on my ipod.......wouldn't sell it tho

    No Producer named on the Vashons but the writers are Sykes - Carter ??? The b side is obviously very early 60s & quite honestly I think We'll be together sounds earlier than the Marvellos We go together although confusingly both groups sing We go together ???? Over to you Robb

    Apologies if this has been done but strange how towards the end of the record the lead vocal fades as though it's the end of the record before the backing vocals pick it up a notch & continues for a while with the muted lead? Engineer with a bit of a twitch ?

    Excellent news, I can rarely listen to Deans show any more unfortunately & when I found out that Gilly was on I was really p'd off. That'll be great if we can all listen to it Always worth listening to Deans show on Tulip radio, wednesdays 7 - 9pm
