  1. I think mid tempo changed along the way, what used to be a slowie is now described on many dealers lists at least, as mid tempo. I know we're all getting older but some of them are ridiculous. Having said that I do love the slower side of things & frequently throw in slower stuff @ Solid Hit Soul Club in London things like Bobby Mac Shy Guy, Linda & Pretenders Believe me, Four Gents Young girl beware, Barbara Lewis If You Love Her / Straighten Up Your Heart alongside the more uptempo stuff.
  2. Think it was released on two different labels in the UK ........anyone have any idea of what they go for ?
  3. But why would they amend the label ? Mine is one of the silver handwritten amended copies & I always wondered about this. I always thought maybe it was a previous owner (although it looked mint when I bought it) but obviously not. If it was the earlier release I could just about understand if they were updating the titles to tie in with a second release but not if it was the later issue ?
  4. Remember it like it was yesterday Steve, unfortunately I don't remember much about yesterday Only joking Was there just the three of us ? Thought there was one more cause two of us had to sit on the floor in the back of the van on a couple of cushions Remember the pub but not the angry civilians Being a southerner I should have stuck to shandy because the bitter I had (& no food) resulted in a raging headache & I had to go back to the van for a kip halfway through the night .....or maybe it was those firkin whistles & Curtis 12inch ha ha even I was buying modern back then (probably thanks to you & Randy) Happy days
  5. Probably answered by now but Court Davis was def Dustin Wilson Have some sympathy Judus
  6. For those of us barred from youtube by evil work places do you want to share artist etc ?
  7. Was that in Johnny Pezzella aka Gamel aka Nylons club under the Arches Steve ? Ady held the 100 club there for about 6 months a few years back. Now that place made the toilets at Bidds appear luxurious. The place was literally falling apart, I think it was Des Parker who was standing leaning with his hand against the wall at an R&B allniter, as he took his hand away part of the wall came with him stuck to his hand. You never wanted to touch anything there Top bloke Johnny though
  8. See you there !
  9. RareNorthernSoul.Com Maurice Williams Being without you Deesu £425.00 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are bargains to be had though Shirelles March Test pressing of a pressing £10 UK Shrine "Demos" Only 10 made £20 (Look like a plain white label to me ?) Loads of "Limited UK Demos 30 Numbered copies only" of Northern Classics Sorry think this has been done previously but just can't believe my eyes
  10. Saw Wilson P in the early 70s ( must have been a babe in arms ) at the Rainbow in London, absolutely awesome performer. Time fades the memory somewhat but remember being blown away by him. Saw quite a few live acts in the 70s but remember none as exciting as WP
  11. Vince Ayres .....the clip is still there just found it but bloody thing has disappeared again
  12. Hmm there was a clip on SSource sales a short while ago (couple of months) going back a few years but it seems to have disappeared. I was thinking of selling my copy & was looking for a sound clip & there was a sales thread from Vince of Gloucester (can't think of surname but Mikey will def know it) that had a clip.
  13. Not what you were asking Richard but Gloria Hill Be somebody Deep sounds like she was standing outside the studio whereas the b side is clear as a bell
  14. I think Marc Forrest also has a way to flatten 45s
  15. Nah you'll be on holiday, nobody will take any notice & if they do they'll probably think you're a mad man/woman & they'll give you a wide berth & you'll have loads of space around the pool, sorted ;-)
  16. Take your mp3 player ;-)
  17. Totally agree Andy, watching (on youtube) some of the dancers who get to the later stages of dance competitions the standard can be appalling. I'm thinking that even though I've never been any good, have two left feet, dodgy knees & ankles & old & creaking bones to contend with I could still have a chance Some of them look like a dad at a wedding dancing to agadoo ...........there are of course some brilliant dancers as well
  18. Des is resident at Solid Hit in London & various other nights, not as prolific as he used to be bookings wise maybe but he's still there entertaining with brilliant stuff including unreleased bits & pieces.....Johnny too is still doing the business as far as I'm aware.

  23. I've played Joe simon a few times over the years, same with Roy Hamilton actually played it friday at Solid Hit. Think any record cheap or otherwise would have been played somewhere at some time ...........unless you're asking if they were a "big" play
