  1. Yes Tyrone did a nice version, and I have a version by Jesse James too.
  2. "LOVE IS WHAT WE CAME HERE FOR" (1977 R.C.A. LP) (Prod. Leon Haywood) Best tracks - "Lovin' you baby"/"Let me be your pacifier"/"I've quit running the streets"/"Let's celebrate"/"I know what love is" More like £25-£30 I think
  3. Nah, the LP version is THE version, the added minutes are bloody awesome.
  4. From last week's Washington Post; How Jerry Butler got his handle February 15, 2013 Fritz Hahn’s suggestion in the Feb. 10 Going Out Guide to take one’s “blues loving” special someone to see “guitar legend” Jerry “The Iceman” Butler on Valentine’s Day probably did not result in the evening anticipated. Butler does not play guitar, nor is he a blues singer. His nickname, bestowed by a disc jockey some five decades ago, refers to his mellow and soulful singing style that was dubbed “so cool.”
  5. Is that the same group with the ridiculously scrarce LP on Lulu?
  6. Couldn't agree more. All the above are easy to locate with the exception of issue copies of 5252 Derek and Cyndi "Daddy had to go"/"On the ladder up to love" (On the ladder not on demos), which is as hard as they come,
  7. Yes that one's a cracker. Probably my favourite on the label along with Mellow Moods "Tell love hello".
  8. Yes Dave, as mentioned above the tracks came out on this PIR LP 34728 The Trammps "Disco champs" ("Stop and think"/"Save a place"/"Trammps disco theme"/"Love epidemic"/"Where do we go from here"/"Promise me"/"Just say the word"/"Oh waa hey"/"Trusting heart") As for; 3257 - The Trammps - Stop And Think / Trammps Disco Theme - 1975 This was purported to be the next single, and an acetate of the tracks (with no mention of label/matrix number exists, as does a dodgy home made boot), but it seems pretty certain now that if this was to be 3257, it never saw the light of day.
  9. That's surprising, the record writer is credited as Bobby Fulton. Prod/arr by Bobby Martin.
  10. Not many releases on these 2. Thunder was Thom Bell's short lived baby; Golden Fleece label Singles; Prefixed ZS7 1973: 3251 The Trammps "Love epidemic"/"I know that feeling" 1974: 3252 The Ethics "Good luck"/"Who in the world" 3253 The Trammps "Where do we go from here"/"Shout" 3254 Robert Upchurch "The devil made me do it"/"Glad your mine" 3255 The Trammps "Trusting heart"/"Down three dark streets" 3256 Love Committee "One day of peace"/"One dozen roses" LP; 1975: 33163 The Trammps "The Trammps" ("Stop and think"/"Trusting heart"/"Every dream I dream is you"/"Love epidemic"/"Save a place"/"Trammps disco theme"/"Where do we go from here"/"Down three dark streets"/"I know that feeling"/"Shout") Thunder label Prefixed ZS8 1974: 5251 Derek & Cyndi "You bring out the best in me"/"I'll do for you the impossible" (PS) 1975: 5252 Derek and Cyndi "Daddy had to go"/"On the ladder up to love" 5253 Michael Walker "I got the notion, you got the motion (part I)"/"I got the notion, you got the motion (part II) (Inst.)" PS. If you are going to repost these anywhere, I'd appreciate a mention
  11. OK, I thought I'd start posting up some of the Mighty Three (Gamble/Huff/Bell) label discographies that I did for the Philadelphia International 40th anniversary box set. For those of you who don't have this wonderful 10 CD box set it comes complete with an accompanying high quality glossy 60 page booklet including full vinyl/cd discographies for all 13 Mighty Three owned/financed labels. Including 45s, & LPs (with sequenced track listings). I held back from posting these for a while as a courtesy to Demon/PIR, until the rush for the box set was over. I'm not sure, but I may have posted the North Bay 1 before, but here goes anyway; North Bay singles; Prefixed NB 1970: 300 The Mellow Moods "Tell love hello"/"If you see him" 1971: 301 The Talk Of The Town "Little bit of your lovin"/"Tossin my pride aside" 302 Family "Family affair (Inst.)"/"Nation time (Inst.)" 303 Honey & The Bees "Jing jing a-ling"/"Auld lang syne" 1972: 304 Family "Do the robot (Part 1)"/"Do the robot (Part 2) (Inst.)" *305 Talk Of The Town "Don't be so mean"/"Accept me for what I am" * Releases on the black on white North Bay logo have the title misspelled as "Except me for what I am" 306 Soul Devalents "Grasshopper"/"This is our thing" 307 The Vibrations "Sneakin'"/"When will my turn come" 308 Little Dooley "(It's got to be) Now or never"/"Memories" 309 Executive Suite "I'm a winner now"/"You got the kind of love" 1973: 310 Louise Williams With Isaac Douglas And The New York Community Choir "Don't blame the children"/"Don't blame the children" 311 Love Brothers "Bop de do waw"/"Giddy-up" LPs; Prefixed NB 1971 1001 Gordon Lowe "Follow the sound" ("Follow the sound"/"Give her my love"/"Dawn"/"Jenny's gone"/"Life of a river"/"Round and round"/"So sorry"/"Prisms"/"Turn over darlin'"/"Coming home") 1973: 1002 Louise Williams With Isaac Douglas And The New York Community Choir "Don't blame the children" ("God is love"/"To be young, gifted and black"/"Tobacco road"/"Tradewinds"/"The ghetto (Part I & II)"/"Reach out and touch (somebody's hand)"/"Don't blame the children") PS. If you are going to repost these discogs anywhere, I'd appreciate a mention
  12. I was DJing at a venue. Dancefloor was packed solid, and a guy struggled through this heaving mass, climbed onto stage and says "Eh mate, haven't you got anything we can dance to"!.
  13. Cheers Steve, I'll dig out the LP and a couple of 45s and compare the voices when I have a moment.
  14. Interesting article, but no mention of an LP "The hits of Barry White" released in 1978 on the Chevron label, which I'd always assumed was by him, perhaps it's another Lee Charles then? P.S. It contains a fabulous version of "I'm Gonna Love You Just A Little More Baby" https://www.discogs.c...release/2408330 My personal favourite of Lee's would be the brilliant "I get high on my baby's love" on Bamboo.
  15. He also had a hand in writing and production at Philadelphia International. Including writing credits on classics such as "Love TKO"
  16. Imagine 10k+ LPs before you even start with the 45s & several thousand CDs. all in a 1 bed rabbit hutch. Not seen my walls for years lol!
  17. Quote - .."But this got me wondering, there people on here with huge collections, what do you do with them, DJ, play them at home (in a jukebox or record room), hold your own soul nights at home with friends, or simply collect and then file them?" - Unquote All of the above
  18. Playing this LP "Think of the children" (Hot Wax) today I realised that Satisfaction Unlimited were aka The Saisfactions, who recorded on Lionel, including the brilliant "One light, two lights". Now I'm sure some of you are saying, "Yeah, I knew that", but I had never made or read about the connection before. Great group, pity their output was limited (pun intended).
  19. It's a quality LP. Some tracks appear to be unreleased, and some were re-recorded ("Only love can be with you" is an example of this). Here's one of my favourites;
  20. These prices are all about 10-20% below the going rate for EX+ copies from dealers; Christopher Moore about £25 Darry Howard about £40 Jo Armstead about £35 Jimmy Holland £5 Jesse James £5
  21. Yes, no more than about £15. Nearly 50 years old too!
  22. Got the "Move me" too on a 45, an okay midtempo number, nothing special.
  23. The duet with Mica Paris was the brilliant "I wish I'd never met you" (B side of her 12" "If i luv you 2nite") He also did an excellent version of "it's a man's man's man's world" with Jeanie Tracy in the mid 9ts (though you have to find the right mix for the best version). Some CDs from that time by the great man, but can't think of any other 12"s off hand.
