  1. Superb record, on their cheap as chips LP "Solid gold" which also contains my favourite version of "Groovin". 1969 Kapp.
  2. One of those times where the 12" knocks the 7" into a cocked hat for me.
  3. Do you mean "Try my side of love"? If so, then the 12" is about £25.. The LP version is identical, so I'd suggest buying that, saving yourself a few £££s and getting some other decent tracks thrown in,
  4. Very true. More tracks more payola I guess too lol
  5. many Atllantic 45s and LPs suffer from poor quality and low volume sound in my experience. The worst label of all has to be Stang though, how their engineers kept their jobs I'll never know, most of the recordings sound as if they've been recorded through water lol
  6. Thanks for the PMs. I'll try to do the same with Neptune when I get a chance.
  7. I find my Loricraft cleaning machine cures about 90% of skips, so that would indicate that dirt fragents are the cause of most. If that doesn't work, and the problem is something else (like a hairline crack in the wall between grooves), then I find that playing the record in reverse (by hand), over the affected area a number of times sometimes works.
  8. Yes, got both those; THE ENTERTAINERS "THE ENTERTAINERS" (1983 H.M.C. LP) (Prod. Alan Kaufman) Best tracks - "Hot on a thang"/"Pour your little heart out"/"I'm leavin"/"I'm in love with you" "DON'T LET YOUR LOVE GROW COLD" (1987 METRO LP) (Prod. Tim Eaton) Best tracks - "Let's make love"/"Do you like it baby?"/"Don't let your love grow cold"/"Baby I will" The HMC LP is probably the best of the 2, being a little more soulful, my favourite track being the version of "Pour your little heart out". The other LP also has some nice moments, "Do you like it" is a remake of the Slave track of course, and "Let's make love" a good cover of the Jerry Butler Phil.Int. tune,. Current prices are about £100 for the HMC & £50 for the Metro one.
  9. Yes indeed, they are different versions. The timing shown on the LP is wrong, it actually clocks in at about 3.44, giving a whole extra minute of bliss including some great backing harmonies. Also, the dynamics have been adjusted, giving a much better sound quality,The probable reason the 45 version is shorter is that the manufacturing techniques of the time meant longer records had worst acoustics. Sacrilege to some, but for me the LP version is the superior recording.
  10. Here's the latest label in my Mighty 3 discographies. The legendary Gamble label. Also, at the bottom I have included a YTube video showing all the 7" releases PS. 11. I can't give you a positive yes, but it seems very likely. The Billy was Billy Carlucci who was a native of Philly and had a group who signed to Landa. He was also friends with Johnny Madara and Patti Labelle. Given the coincidences and the Italian names I'd put money on it.
  12. I didn't photograph the picture sleeves, just the records, sorry. I'll try to get it up here some time.
  13. If the vid won't play - try going through this link; https://www.youtube.com/user/PhillyDavesSoul
  14. Been huge on the modern scene for years. Top tune, nice label.
  15. Might be a goof idea to add the rare records to your ebay.com searches, so you you'll be notified if any come up for sale.
  16. PS. I've been posting up the full Mighty 3 discogs. I'll try to post the Gamble one when I get back in tonight,
  17. No, and I don't believe it exists.
  18. Yes, tons of the LPs packs still about, which makes the seller's description..."this LTD licensed reissue was only available as an LP insert which SOLD OUT in a weekend" a tad misleading. had an original once
  19. From Vince's fb page; "Today we ask for the strength and prayers of those who loved Vincent Montana, Jr., who passed away peacefully today, April 13, 2013 with his loved ones beside him. A man who brought us great joy in so many ways. He will always be with us through his music."
