  1. Ruby Andrews LP about £25
  2. I just dug this one off a dusty shelf; Ronnie Mitchell "Loving is a pleasure"/"Back in business" (Spectrum 113) I can't find any info about it on any sites on the net, and it's not on the Spectrum discographies that I found either. The B side was also the flip of his Spectrum 102 single "Soul touch", but anyone else know know/have this nice 6t's deep soul ballad?
  3. Wouldn't go with the "discovery" bit. It's been a popular record in these parts (home counties) since it was released. 12" should set you back about £40 in mint
  4. What us this? Comedy night? Ok, you may have a point, I can only think of; "Too high"/"Visions"/"Living for the city"/"Golden lady"/"Higher ground"/"Jesus children of America" "Don't you worry 'bout a thing"/"He's misstra know-it-all"/"To know you is to love you"/"Smile please"/"Heaven is 10 zillion light years away"/"Boogie on reggae woman"/"Creepin'"/"You haven't done nothin'"/"It ain't no use"/"Please don't go"/Love's in need of love today"/"Village ghetto land"/"Sir Duke"/"I wish"/"Knocks me off my feet"/"Pastime paradise"/"Summer soft"/"Ordinary pain"/"Isn't she lovely"/"Black man"/"Ngiculela - Es una historia - I am singing"/"If it's magic"/"As"/"Another star" "All I do"/"Rocket love"/"As if you read my mind"/"Send one your love"/"That girl"/"Do I do"/"It's you"/"Love light in flight"/"Stranger on the shore of love"/"You will know"/"Edge of eternity"/"Sensuous whisper"/"For your love"/"Sweetest somebody I know"/"Moon blue"/"My love is on fire" Off the top of my head. Up there with the guy a few years back who tried to tell me Bobby Womack had never made a good record.
  5. As stated, LP only; Philadelphia Int. LP 36304 Lou Rawls "Sit down and talk to me" ("One day soon you'll need me"/"Heartaches (just when you think you're loved)"/"Ain't that loving you"/"When you get home"/"Sit down and talk to me"/ "You're my blessing"/"Old times"/"You are") Cheaper than chips.
  6. I gave it a spin last month. PS. he was lead singer with Phil.Int. group the Futures
  7. "CRY TO ME" (1975 AWARE) (Prod. Floyd Smith) Best tracks - "Cry to me"/"I know where you're coming from"/"The show must go on"/"I'll be gone"/"I can't help myself"/"Casanova" truly great LP. Her version of "Casanova" is awesome.
  8. About £250 on TSG and £200 on Graham Int. Mine's on the latter. A fine sweet soul album all told; THE ULTIMATES "THE ULTIMATES" (1978 GRAHAM INT.) (Prod. Unknown) Best tracks - "I just can't stand it"/"Girl I've been trying to tell you"/"Loving you easy"/"You're my lady"/"God and you"
  9. Hunt's Determination made 2 LPs; HUNT'S DETERMINATION "THIS IS DETERMINATION PROBLEMS" (circa 1978 EARWAX) (Prod. Stacie Hunt) Best track - "Loneliness" "GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER" (circa 1980 EARWAX) (Prod. Ed Sommers & Ronnie Carson) Best tracks - "Thinking of you"/"She's on my mind"/"You're my heart and soul" The 1st LP is uninspiring funk, but the second one contains the brilliant 2 stop "Thinking of you". Expect to pay about £30 for each in mint condition.
  10. He recorded a tune in the late 80s entitled "I don't want to be a fool", not to be confused with "I don't wanna be a fool" (Cotillion). As stated, a completely different record. Yes, Luther bought the rights to all his Cotillion stuff with the group Luther. He didn't think they were up to scratch, and they will probably never be reissued now. PS. the Cotillion LP "This close to you" is in my opinion one of the all time great soul LPs. "Follow my love" off the LP knocks "Don't wanna be a fool" into a cocked hat as a dancer.
  11. "Ruff'n ready" is my favourite, but "Sings top ten" is also superb; "SINGS TOP TEN" (1966 SOUL) (Prod. Unknown) Best tracks - "I've passed this way before"/"Gonna give her all the love I've got"/"What becomes of the broken hearted" /"As long as there is l-o-v-e love"/"Since I've lost you"/"I want her love"/"How can I say I'm sorry" Then There's the LP "Love is all we need" (1975 Polydor). This contains the brilliant "The entertainer", which mysteriously came out on a 45 a couple of years back as a so called "unreleased" track! I also love "Changin' me" from the "Sunrise" LP (1980 RSO). Pretty poor LP other than this track though.
  12. The 45 is PIR 3514. "Do you like..." was not on The Ebonys one Philly LP
  13. Agreed, fabulous. From "Turn the hands of time" LP (Capitol 1981). "I've been down" from said LP is also brilliant. One of the greatest voices around, such a pity most of his recent music has been MOR.
  14. Maybe true Brian, but you can't go by them, as they don't list anything below a certain price, so all the hundreds of copies that sell cheaply aren't considered. I'd say go for the LP anyway, some other nice bits on it.
  15. Brilliant record, a regular feature in my play box.
  16. Just 24 hours to go on these. Thanks to Ebays ridiculous new search & browse facility, not many around the world would have seen these, so could go for bargain prices. All have sound samples on.
  17. Cracking thread (pun very much intended)! About 15 years ago, after much badgering, I relented and gave my mate a box of rare LPs for him to take home and listen to (Eleanore Mills, Gloria Scott etc). Next morning my telephone rings and it's him, almost in tears. I'd already guessed the worst! He had gone in a shop on the way home, came out, and his car had gone. Car was found a few days later in A1 condition, minus my LP box. Took me about 4 weeks before I spoke to him again. Time has eased my pain!
  18. All originals; Volumes (Impact issue) "Same old feeling"/"Trouble I've seen" Wales Wallace (Bashie issue) "We're not happy"/"That ain't the way" Lee McDonald (Debbie) "Gotta get home"/"Show me" Virgil Henry (Tamla) "You ain't sayin' nothin' new"/"I can't believe you're really leaving" Gil Bernal (RCA Victor demo) "Can you love a poor boy"/"To make a poor man cry" https://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZphillydaveg All will have sound samples added to the listings by the end of the night. More coming soon. Thanks for looking. EDIT - Small samples of each track now added to listings. If anyone wants to listen to any track in its entirety, let me know & I'll post a link or send you an MP3
  19. Yes, I can confirm the 12" is 4mim 53s. What a fabulous record, oozes soul out of every pore.
  20. If not, got one here too!
  21. About £30-£40 for an excellent copy. One of the very best LPs imho. Although the title track mentioned, "Could it be magic", is a version of the Barry Manilow tune & is by far the worst track on the album. Of course, he also did the brilliant "Hey baby" on Philadelphia Int., this is 45 only.
  22. Sold (a real one) about 2 months ago. As well as the white edge to the label, the bars on the 2nd issue are yellow, whilst on the original they are more orange.
  23. Last day, still a few bargains to be had. Thanks for looking.
  24. Just a few things going; https://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZphillydaveg
