  1. When I was 16 I remember: "Everlasting Love" - Love Affair "This Old Heart of Mine" -Isleys "Breaking Down the Walls of Heartache"-Johnny Johnson+Bandwagon Loved Amen Corner, more importantly Andy Fairwether Lowe. Can't believe how many years have passed since then Pat ps trying to work out people's ages by their choice of records
  2. Thought I'd look at the other posts before I put mine and I'm glad I did. "Something's wrong" is my choice too. Afraid that this record sets my teeth on edge and sends me off the dancefloor rather than onto it. Pat
  3. Today I have also received an e-mail from Helen at the BBC.Below I have managed to copy/paste and am feeling very clever. Dear Pat, There is a new Radio 2 evening schedule beginning on Monday 16th April which means the new series of All Singing, All Dancing, All Night is now going out on Tuesday 12th June at 23.30. Hopefully this date won't change but if it does I will let you know. Sorry for any inconvenience.
  4. "Any Day Now " by Chuck Jackson is a track that makes be cry. The Snake" too for different reasons Mainly because I can't bear to listen to it. Pat
  5. Wasn't thinking of Mel Britt until I read your post and am with you all the way. My favourite must be Tomangoes " I really love you". It is difficult though choosing just one.It was bad enough choosing 5 fave tunes on Hinckley Soul Club website. Pat
  6. I thought it was back on air in March too but website says differently.According to ASADAN webpage, the new series starts on Wednesday 9th May 2007. Pat
  7. Think it would have to be "I got the fever" by Creation or "This old heart of mine" by the Isleys Pat
  8. An earlier post was right about fashions coming round again. As I'm shopping I keep saying that I should have kept all my old clothes from 60s and early 70s. Alan (my husband ) points out that it's not avery good idea as I was a size 8 when we met and am now size 12(10 on a good day ). He takes great pleasure in the fact that they wouldn't fit me My friend Anne often wears dresses but I usually wear trousers to hide my podgy legs. It doesn't matter what you wear as long as you don't frighten the horses!! KTF Pat
  9. Definitely been into NS too long if I'm sad enough to be online at this time in the morning before I go to work I find I'm saying YES!YES! to all the other posts. We've often said we'll be on the dance floor with zimmer frames preferably with wheels attached. Must do something sensible now and start getting ready. Pat
  10. The children in my "Cool Kids" exercise group at school have been exercising to NS for a few months now. At first they called it my old fogey music but now they sing along and ask for the tracks they like best. I'm guilty of singing along in the car as well.Luckily I'm in the passenger seat but still get odd looks as I'm often trying to dance at the same time .
  11. Haven't laughed so much in ages as I've read all these posts. I get strange looks in shoe shops as well as I'm always rubbing the soles and saying"Wonder if I can dance in these". The shop assistants give me funny looks and I can almost hear them thinking"What's that white-haired woman want with a pair of dancing shoes?" Once someone asked me if they were for ballroom dancing!! My friend Anne bought a pair of boots in the sales and she tried them out on the carpet in the store. The staff thought we were absolutely bonkers.
  12. Contact Max Millward (Blue Max) at his shop. He is a close friend of John's so may be able to help you. His shop number is 01902 732795 Hope that helps. Pat
  13. Can anyone help please? I'm sure I spotted a posting about the Cavendish Suite(Wolverhampton) reunion but can't remember where I saw it. If anyone knows when and where it will be held, I should be very grateful. Best wishes Pat
  14. Thought I was very clever recognising Marie+ Carl until I realised someone had beaten me to it.
  15. Ged I couldn't agree with you more. We'd always loved the music but hadn't been to a nite for years and years until 1997. Since then it's as if I'm a teenager again until I look in the mirror of course. I still have to break off conversations to dash onto the dance floor. Amazing that it's been 38 years since I first fell in love with these sounds. Shall be at the Soul Cellar in Walsall tonight but no dancing for me as I fractured a toe 2 weeks ago.
  16. Paul if you contact me by email then I can give you a number for Scotty. Pat
  17. An extra note to this message about Beryl is to suggest a visit to the J11 website. A tribute has been posted there as Tez+Beryl were involved with the club from the very beginning. Patx
  18. There may be many of you Soulies out there who know Terry Stephens aka Tez. I was shocked today to get a phone call from him telling me that his wife Beryl had passed away on 2nd Jan. Beryl had not enjoyed very good health during the past few years but was always cheerful. We will miss seeing her and her hats. The funeral will be on 16th Jan at Coneyhill Church,Gloucester and more info can be found on www.msnusers.com/NorthernSoulNitesTwo Click on Messages and you should find directions to the Church. Pat Carter
  19. Thanks for the welcome Bearsy even though I think you are having a go You don't have to be involved in a group to be bothered by what goes on. Lets all just live and let live and whatever music is dear to your heart just KTF. bye for now Pat
  20. Bit nervous as this is my first post, even if it is a reply to someone else's original message. I have no connection at all with either the mods or scooterists. Mine is more a general comment.Having loved the music ,and danced to it,for over 37 years I'm finding the elitism a little bit hard to swallow. I've always told newcomers and outiders how friendly the Northern Soulies are but there seems to be quite a bit of backbiting in the past 6 months at least. It's a bit sad to hear that mods and scooterists are just the same. The only encouraging sign is that there are lots of younger folk attending soul nites and dancing to the music. Finally can I just say that life is too short and we should just go out, listen and dance to the music and be NICE(awful word I know) to each other. Happy New Year to everyone who knows us and also those who don't. Pat
