    last night I went to a rather splendid charity soul night rasing money for the fight against cancer...actually it was the dogs b*llocks. Rammed, hot and sweaty with folk supporting the night for all the right reasons...amount rased so far £8800, incredible.

    thanks guys, Ive been buying records for years from USA and this has never happened before, Just one more question does the sender HAVE to put the value of whatever it is inside on the parcel to validate any Insurance claim if the need arose.

    after some investigation work it would appear if the package is worth more than 135.01 you have to pay customs duty AND import VAT PLUS £8 handling fee, does anyone know what rate the import vat is? £135.01 and greater Customs duty due, but waived if the amount calculated due is less than £9 Import VAT due

    just had a couple of bits delivered via the USA value £1296 uk pound HAD a card put through the door from Royal mail suggesting a payment is due £323.05 before I can collect parcel etc Never happened to me before , what is the criteria regarding custom charges Piffed off
