Where to begin? The weather was poor, there was a rail strike, but our punters enthusiasm wasn’t going to be damped. People were arriving, half an hour before hand, to get prime seats and watch as we finished setting up the PA. There is always a delay from when the stylus drops on that first record to when the first intrepid dancer steps out on to the floor. Jokingly called ‘the two-pint lag’. The two-pint lag because people need two pints before limbering up for a boogie: a pint for each leg I guess. But not tonight. Colin showed his mastery of the decks and soon the floor was brimming full of revellers. Hit after hit, dance after dance, the pace was relentless. Requests were offered up from a very knowledgeable crowd: tunes came out that hadn’t seen the light of day in years. I don’t think anybody was disappointed. The atmosphere was charged and switching off at the end as difficult. We are to do it again. Please spread the word. Let people know what a lovely venue this is and what a cracking night we all have. Lov’ Steve

  8. Crossgates Recreational Club is a very active club in north east Leeds. The management take a great pride in presenting the venue the very best they can. The function room is upstairs and there is a lift for easy access. Toilets are upstairs too. Friendly staff and working man club priced drinks. Going back to our roots, the night is about the great times of our youth. Motown classics and sounds from the youth club days like Band of Gold by Freda Payne played from the original vinyl records. There might be smattering of popular modern and R&B. Previous events have been sell outs so don't hang around, get your tickets now while there is availability. Give Denise a ring, as soon as.
The heat was blistering, as the sun sent temperatures soring, but the Selby Soulies weren't to be beaten, they still came out in their droves. What a great afternoon of music.
  9. Looking forward to spinning a few in the afternoon.
  10. Clothing sales should be available at this event.
