  1. Thanks John and Chalky for the additional info Best Darren
  2. Thanks alot Dave and Russ much appreciated.
  3. Tommy & the Derby's - Don't Play The Role - Swing I think this is one of the best finds in ages and now JM has come up with a vg+ copy on his auction although there's a fair bit of noise on it. However its not the grading I want to know about we can all decide that ourselves, its how rare is this i've never seen a copy and i've been collecting 25 yrs although ive known the tune only about a year. Is this a holy grail tune or just sitting dorment in peoples collections. Any views and opinions appreciated. Best Darren
  4. Hi emailed you twice yesterday (sat) and today maybe there in your spam folder Best Darren
  5. Lonnie Russ - Say Girl Cody Black - Slowly Moulding Any help appreciated. Cheers Darren
  6. A bit over top on the buy it now but he would accept alot less he knows the true value of these records thats why they're open to offers and hes already declined a few, He always manages to unearth some major tunes and ive always been happy with anything ive had off him. I dont blame him for trying it on, its up to the buyer to judge for himself whether its worth it or not, and we all know theres people out there on ebay that will pay OTT on poor condition records, this is the DJ market that drives these poor pieces way higher than they should be, it happens all the time. A collector would'nt touch these I picked a mint Dennis Edwards up for a lot less than $4k only a few years back they do come to the market. That said You cant do more than put multiple pics, sound clips, and open to offers its sound business he knows he'll get more selling this way than putting them on here for us all to pick the bones out of. Top man in my opinion he often starts at very reasonable prices and lets the market decide the value.
  7. Yes Dean I regulary wade through the second hand shops, junk shops in Bristol and have to say not found a great deal for at least 5 or 6 years but did find lots in the 90s especially the early years. I think the problem today is everybody's a bloody record dealer with the advent of ebay. Last year I did manage to grab a copy of Betty Lavettes you made a believer out of me 50p great tune, these finds really still give you buzz dont they, will pop up to your night soon. Regards Darren
  8. Yes Chalky i'm starting to agree with you I knew it was rare but not as rare as that. I was willing to pay £950 and bid up to that, I thought I stood a good chance but got blown away by 3 other bidders. Seems I'm gonna be waiting a long time to add this to the collection although what sometimes happens when a record goes like this others come out to take advantage of the current demand hopfully theres a few out there.
  9. All I know is Wendall Watts £1759 what a tune not to sure its worth that money though, although saying that there's a lot more readily available tunes that fetch alot more that.
  10. Got to admit it i'm a crap photographer and even worse at using a pc. I thought I could cheat photoing 2 at a time but as you can see that didnt work out to well, but how it got on the post i've no idea. I'm moving in a month or so and will be sorting out lots of records to sell these will be sold if the right offer comes along. Any hints tips on current values please I think i'm in the right ball park but tell me if i'm wrong. Cheers Darren

Jimmy Delphs - Dancing a whole in the world Carla Red issue Johnny Honey cutt - Im coming over -Triode Johnny Praye - Too much love All in ex+ at least Can post up some pics later if anyones interested
  14. Come on you cant do that to us. At least give us a few clues.
  15. QUOTE (Steve G @ Mar 27 08, 02:31 PM) The distributor who had 2,000 copies couldn't shift them so he used the vast majority (over 1800 copies apparantly) as target practice for his kids to practice with their Loo-ee-sea-Anna air guns. You couldn't make it up if you tried Mark - that is a bona fide story and explains why it's a hard record. Anyone have any copies for sale i've just purchased a new 2.2 Air rifle. I'm totally out Don Gardners & Lester Tiptons had a bit of a spree after watching that twat on the apprentice last night.
  16. Just for the record Im not Tim Brown. An like a few others have mentioned its all just a bit of fun, lets keep it in perspective here, both the guys mentioned deserve full respect for there knowledge and integrity. We all know whats holy grail and whats not, an whats rare and whats common so wheres the harm. We all buy records because we like them not because of what somone's written about them. John's write ups on his website are always interesting and a source of finding out a little more info about a artist or a tune. Keep it up guys, its just funny nothing more nothing less. By the way anyone got the reason yet as we're all just speculating.
  17. I had a cd called This is Northern Soul - Motown Sound. It was on that cd and there was a picture of it on 7" single US Motown in the booklet that came with it, but I've never seen one although like the rest of you i've always been looking out for it. I think the cd was part of a 2 part collection issued on debutant and put together by Chris King its since been released as a double cd and the artwork is different. If anyone has the original cd have a look in the book and tell me i'm not goin mad. Cheers Darren
  18. Whats with the references to John and holy grail all over the descriptions, is it a private joke. I was gonna post this last night but thought maybe its obvious and I'm missing somthing but its bugging me now, I could only think hes taking the pee out of Jm who always ramps it up on his auctions. I dont know Maybe I aint got enough to do?
  19. Been issued twice first late 70s and then about 2/3yrs ago was reissued, original about £200, 2nd issue was about £25 last one I sold which suprised me a bit.
  20. Will do Kev i'm seeing him soon i'll mention you
  21. Totally right about Stuart Lanning starting what is now scootering I remember picking this up from local shops in Weston Super Mare when it was photo copied and stapled together. He now owns the Lambretta museum in weston (well worth a visit) and is still heavily involved in the local and national scene. He puts on Woolacombe (as well as others) every year in the south west and its always a cracker with a seperate soul room. I do a bit of Djing for him a few times a year and a few tunes that always fill the floor that hav'nt been mentioned are Suspicion - originals Baby hit & run - Contours Dont send nobody else - Ace spectrum The night - Frankie Valli Always great nights the scooter nights and you can catch Stuart and a few of the original Weston Scooter boys at the Pig and Truffle nights which return on March 8th 2008 playing a great mix of rally tunes and across the board northern.
  22. Every DJ should have one in the box for that moment you need a pee, its long enough to cue up, get to the bog and get back again perfect for emergencies.
