  7. Yes without a doudt its rare and I personally think its a pretty good tune as well. What happens is when a record sells for big money everyone goes and starts hunting through there stock you see it time and again, a record sells for big money and out come a couple more. I have owned or sold many rare tunes but have never even seen a WP in real life. Cheers Darren www.raresoul45s.co.uk

  12. Heres a update for all interested parties current best offer £1K it will sell. All info and sound files on the site with scans. Check the new arrivals some very big records in there as well. www.raresoul45s.co.uk OFFERS BY 7PM FRIDAY 16TH SEPT 2009 Well this is really something special take a listen. I'm told Guy Hennigan had this covered up many years ago as Freddy Waters, he didn't need to, it's always been a impossible record to find, I've seen more Lester Tiptons and Billy Woods than I have of this. The only other copy of this I've seen for sale was Auctioned by John Manship nearly two years ago. Here's what John said about the record when asked about its rarity, "Just to validate the rarity of the Wendell Watts, this is the one and only copy I've ever had for sale, the four collectors scrapping for it at the end, knew exactly how seriously rare it is. I wish I could have added it to my collection, love the record. I think the winner got himself a real jewel! John" the final sale price ended just under £1800. Here offered for sale for only the second time to my knowledge in the UK for over 20 Years is your chance to add this holy grail tune to your collection. Serious offers only please by 7pm Friday 18th September 2009 & please can you use the contact us tab to submit your offer as its easier to file them on the site. Condition is a conservative EX. Good luck you aint going to see another for a long time.
  13. Russ Im saying the scene stutterred around the early ninties in general (lots of people left for various reasons), especially with regard to selling records, ofcourse its all relative really. Im merely pointing out what I saw and witnessed as a collector and devotee, I remember down here in the southwest you had to attend a scooter rally to hear Northern soul played regular, and the likes of Keith munsell we're djing rallys back then because of the lack of events. Best Darren www.raresoul45s.co.uk
  14. I dont think the scene will ever come to a halt as it did before purely down to the diverse demographic the scene has now (its changed massively), combine that with the world wide interest the rare soul scene now generates, things are pretty healthy interest wise. Getting back to the record mountain, yes if it aint rare or in demand its hard to sell at the moment unless its a classic oldie in prestine condition, then you can command a good price and still shift it. The rare stuff will always sell and theres plenty of people out there ready to part with there hard earned. I sold a Jimmy Bo Horne this week and could have sold it 5 times over, in these tough times people are still spending big, and alot of these people ar'nt old stalwarts of the scene these are what you could call relatively new converts over the last 10 or 15 years. Regarding people selling off there collections and not enough people interested in picking over it I cant see that happening, I think the analogy would be a motorway tail back as some slowly pull away from the front more are joining at the back. These people join at the lower end of the market and steadily increase there spending limits as years go on and become more and more obsessive about collecting, I see it every week its a illness. We can all remember that first time we spent way to much, more than we could afford on a tune but once you've done it your hooked its like smoking your first pack tabs. The mid range stuff has now found its level but the high end stuff who knows. Cheers Darren www.raresoul45s.co.uk
  15. Tony Be closer to £2k than £1K for a clean copy, ive seen them that rough go for more though, maybe wait for a nice gold one to come along. Best Darren www.raresoul45s.co.uk
  16. Belting record Chalky, took me over to 2 decades to get my copy, missing from some of the finest collections.
  17. Yes Nev its a shame its so rare in a way because so few people ever get to hear it played out. Now its on CD i'm sure people are going to pick up on it, still unknown to many. Cheers Darren

  22. Great record i sold a copy last year to a well known Jock for £2500. I thought I did well with it. I must admit it does take a few listens, but it really grows on you. I think the record had a little to much back ground noise on it to achieve a premium. How many copies who knows, but not many ive seen about 4 for sale over the last few years. Cheers Darren www.raresoul45s.co.uk

  25. Seems to be plenty of new younger collectors arriving on the scene to me. Many People still migrate from the scootering scene and world wide the rare soul fraternity is growing. I think its pretty healthy at the moment, it may fade away a little from time to time as it has done in the past, that said we have the best musical taste in the world so someone is always going to pick up the mantle when we all depart, the music speaks for it self and will live on. Cheers Darren www.raresoul45s.co.uk
