  7. Hiya Kev Im beginning to think that us oldies lovers are a dying breed so when we do finally stop KTF what will the soul scene be listening to? progressing on to something that sounds nothing like the purest N/S music? watered down till it no longer sounds like N/S? When that happens I will be at home nursing my corns and bunions from dancing to my beloved oldies I have heard some "new" oldies recently sent to me via the post on CD I m enjoying listening to 60's stuff that I can still hear the n/s sound there are definitely some great underplayed oldies out there KTF and Happy new Year Mand
  8. Yep ...been here ..hits the spot alright! Mand
  9. I remember johnny reggae ..that was a tad blue ..guess thats why the lads liked it back then Minit ...I just named the thread that because I saw the name coined in another thread WEe havent invented another soul room YET Mand
  10. OMG just listened to Gary Puckett and the union gap...young girl hairs on the back of my neck stood up to attenshun!! anyone else hear anything recently??? Mand
  11. Question... How new or old is the newest/oldest modern soul record and how old does it have to be before its an oldie? I,like yourself Barney am an unashamed oldies lover. I have tried to listen in the car and at home to newer stuff and the leseer underplayed stuff but it just doesn't fit the sound of the original oldie that gives me the hairs on the back of the neck feel. I don't like jazz or stuff that has spiralling sounds or too much sax (there is some great sax sounds in oldies but not spiralling) I do like old RnB. Listen to whatever makes you happy, I do. Also get sick of folks being slagged off for what they wear ...its up to them ...no one else. Once upon a time what you wore was a statement and was an apsect of the music we followed .....as we get older we no longer have to "prove " we love the music by wearing "a uniform". All personal choice these days, so enjoy your oldies and the answer to your question Barney... No You aren't a dinosaur Mand
  12. How absolutely gutting for you both I'm sure that these will surface on ebay or a second hand record shop where else would they be saleable? Its very sad that a collection thats has been a lifes work has gone in one go and the sentimental value must be huge let alone the inconvenience of it being your job too we all need to be vigilant they arent worth anything to anyone else except on the soul scene are they? so theyre gonna reappear over the next few months I really hope you get them back all in one piece Mand x

  17. I have to say that I "know" ( term used loosely) a lot more folks this time around I think its a lot more social today But as to numbers I cant get the 48 million quoted by Happyhammer are they counting evertime a person goes thru the doors that person could have gone to the venue eg 300 times therefore same person classed as 300 different people Anyone get my drift?? I lost myself for a moment LOL Mand
