Well I went and bought it ...while I was there (HMV) had quite a few motown CDs on display (due to 50 years of) SO I bought Tamala Motown big hits and hard to find classics and track 5 on volume 1 Ive passed this way before ...Jimmy Ruffin ...don't think Ive ever heard this and its beautiful they were 4 quid each volume BARGAIN!!!! Mand

Soulboy ...what gets me about Wino is how can anyone respect someone who has no repsect for themselves? I like a bit o reggae grew up listening to youth club stuff like big 7 etc etc Will deffo chase up Rapaels cd tho when Im in town next Mand

Dougie I think the thing is that they never bother their arses to go out and look at the management teams who run these places never advertise any events (as you say no promotion) great venues (that we as a music genre) appreciate above most other groups I mean most welfares have the cheapest beers around but you can't rely on that alone to pull in the punters I could think of loads of stuff to do in venues like that to cater for whole communities What a waste

Oh thanks for clearing that up I can't say I like Joss Stone ..bought her first cd a while back played once and .......dunno where it is now Too much hype about her voice ..Amy Wino's got a great voice but its wasted on her! I'm afraid I hated the TOTP coverage of motown it seemed to just want to say ...hey we had all these motown performers on our show And from what I saw they were all miming ! WHY????? Standing in the shadows of motown (seen before) was brilliant altho I didnt like those who were doing the covers ...Bootsy collins ( Looks like a pimp) yuk I did however like Bens (last name escapes me) attempt I'm not one for covers really ...IF IT AINT BROKEN ...DON'T FIX IT!!!!!

Ciswo (coal industry social welfare organisation ) still own /run most of the welfares I heard recently of a welfare up north ( forget the name) where they sold all the land with the provision the were provided with a new welfare and leisure facility on part of the plot of land. The rest went to housing. Our welfare had a large bowling green and football field behind also the welfare annexe (original welfare) still exisited there and the old boxing club. None of these facilities were used in the last few years. The downstairs of the old welfare was used for a youth club ( the one I attended whe I was growing up)

Ollerton Miners Welfare closed its doors on saturday last week. Its very sad when we lose such a fantastic venue. The dancefloor was huge and the room upstairs coluld hold 700 comfortably It had a HUGE dancefloor We had Melvyn Davis perform there in Feb 2005 The Chad reports that the venue had become "insolvent" Does it worry our other welfares in the notts area that they may be under the same threat or are they still running a thriving venue/welfare Mand

Hi guys thanks for the info on the vinyl Gasher...Bubble not burst ..none of them cost me a penny ...would have loved some of them to be originals..but I'm not bitter I think about this ..that somewhere out in the world there are small boxes of vinyl in attics garages etc etc that haven't seen the light of day for years full of original records that collectors would drool over pay big bucks for and the person that keeps them merely because theres a small amount of sentimental value attached to them and their youth ! Admittedly I have bought boots not knowing they were as I have limited knowledge of vinyl and values All I know is my box has gained some more vinyl for my pleasure to play on my old vinyl player Cheers Mand
