Sorry what happened to the bottom posting?? Anyways I was going to point out that altho folks still wear spencers and bowling shirts etc etc Don't mean theyre stuck in tha past surely? It means they wear comfy clobber to dance in....... PS they get more photos taken of them these days Its like a the national dress we know what it looks like but no-one wears it really do they? Its depicting what we wore and I believe that youngsters should still see where our roots came from I still love to see Mods dressed up PS I still have my 22 inch waist spencer skirt but my waist is 28 now !!! I can relate to this post very much Mr Godin was a journalist His intelligence would have been astounding and writing skills would have been off the chart He could probably put into words everything we were thinking that Northern Soul meant to us but in an extremely intelligent way If Mr Godin was reading the post above now he would probably say it was the man in the streets version of what he was saying back then I'm mainly going by what people have said in thier posts and I've followed these posts closely. I too pay homage to Notts palais when I'm in town beacause a part of my young life was touched by those four walls I was part of something and I was proud of the whole thing,the music the dress code the dancing the queueing everything That hasn't changed He is guilty ......Of giving us an identity ....which evolved form the sounds he heard in clubs being played in the north And I thank him for it ( wish I had met him and shook his hand ) My life has been blessed with NORTHERN SOUL Mand ( in a soulful mood )

We go to a soul do nearly every weekend Doesn't that mean I'm dedicated? not a matter of how far I travel surely I don't always stay on my doorstep Altho I do consider myself a lesser soulie because I can't dedicate all my time to northern soul that I would like (family commitments) some I know who travel greater distances have visited nearly every "shrine " I consider them more fortunate to have that luxury. I think you'll find that would be us midlanders be they east or west midlanders Ive looked at a map recently and the most clubs are still clustered in the midlands but does that prove they are the best attended?? Well I went to kingsway hall at the weekend and it was still well attended even tho skeg weekender was on. Id say there was about 100 of us in there and we had an absolutely bloody brill night and the promoters couldn't thank the punters enough for attending Mand
