  4. I ve only seen Steve on function at the junction short film But I do know hes "legendary" and a bloody nice fellow! And Mr Churm but of course! very good also! I like it when clubs name drop dancers too.... good for publicity

  9. Can you remember who taught you your moves ? I remember teaching some of the local lads some of the floorwork moves on our front garden I watched the lads at the palais then went home and taught them to my brother who then taught some of his mates Funny how things like that catch on I cant do those moves today but I can still somersault on trampoline and Im working on my back flips I wouldnt use them on the dancefloor tho

  12. Now then Ed I did say todays best dancers But by the looks of this thread I dont think we have any!!! Ive seen the dance comp youtube clips of alfreton and there are some great dancers on there Andy Cannon being one of them I always feel cheated if someone starts of well then fizzles out after 30 seconds tho !   16. Just wondering who we think are the best northern dancers today My choice would be female : Sam Evans or Jo? Cooper? Clare Gees friend both great shufflers fast footed and good movers And for male still with all the moves Carl Piper But bear in mind that Im in the midlands Anyone else care to add?   20. My very first taste was needle in a haystack which got me dancing my very first soulful steps out on the floor But I love the Joe Tex choon Mand PS forgot the say by the velvelettes on motown label ( maybe not that soulful )...but I got there!!
  21. Hi Sean Im sorry I cant help you with this one I was a regular at Notts Palais in those days but I hardly knew a soul...ie! I went to dance and thats what I did! I know very few folks I met in those days ... Only a small group from my village and a few folks from mansfield who Ive recently met back up with. Mand ( billy no mates)

  23. I think the ability to read the dancefloor is essential what Djs have to remember is he/she will judged as good or crap dependant on what happens on the piece of wood in front of them!!! Atho Ido have some favorite Dj's locally I find once I say I like them they go and play the crappest set ever!!! I have also known one Dj play a whole set to an empty dancefloor ( he hasn't been invited back to that club since) Ive also seen Dj's play all their loved ones favourites and theyve been virtually the only people on the dancefloor All I ask is for djs to look at the dancefloor if no one is on it play summat else And before anyone pipes up there are folks who don't dance to consider I agree with that too BUT...if they come to and oldies do expect that policy if they go to a modern do expect that that policy I expect clubs to do what they say on the flyer Mand
