Ed I have never got past oldies! Thats what I listened to and danced to as a kid and still do Ive tried to go to listen to rare stuff underplayed stuff funk jazz etc etc But it doesnt hit the same notes as classic northern oldies even the 60's underplayed like the odd tune but still love the played out stuff I wish I could but I can't Mand

PS The Palais still makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck !!! I went past it yesterday and it makes me smile very widely! Soppy old tart Mand

Hi Derek I have one of the outside of Notts Palais My fave venue when I was a kid. I will take one of The white Swan (mansfield) when I go into town next time ... Btw Its reet posh now it has a nice outside beer garden Mand

Billy They still do the "floorwork" here in the midlands ... They are gettin less and less tho I love to see the guys who can still do those things on the floor Its more entertaining to watch than someone two steppin Mand

Bridget I have Pilsley on mine as I have visited previously ( altho I have diffficulty gettin now) I see it as the point of fact that its a good club! Anyway ...back to the topic in hand .... For me it was 78/83 It was quite short really Pete99 when did palais close to northern all dayers? I do remember bali hi room /funk room with revolving floor and hanging vines / cane furiture ..had a very nasty experience in that room never went in there again! stayed upstairs
