Bobby Bland "Ain´t No Love..." is soul-blues perfection to my ears. The Dreamer album is one album I´ve played oh so many times, a very solid set methinks, with Bobby Bland on top form vocally. Cheers, Melismo

Friends & Buddies, the LP which contains the classic "Keep It Up", originally came out on Alston in 1975, and it had a (vinyl) reissue some years ago. There´s another album too, entitled Spaced. Milton Wright is the brother of better known soul singer Betty Wright! Best, Mel

Those cats are driving me mad. I keep getting those codes wrong. Are you a premium Rapidshare user? If so, it is possible to upload/download files without the "enter numbers and letters attached to a cat" step All the best Melismo -

Stevie Wonder concerts are just that - CONCERTS. They are NOT SHOWS. He normally doesn´t bring any dancers, he sits by his piano. He hardly even walks on stage, because he is kind of afraid of stumbling and falling, since he can´t see. He is led on and off stage by staff. So really there´s not a lot to SEE, you can only HEAR his voice and the music, but I must admit that his live versions are much more LIVELY than the studio recordings. And if he decides to speak, he can be very entertaining, he has a great sense of humour, joking about the fact that he´s blind etc. Hope you get a ticket mate. Cheers, Melismo

I have a couple of recordings by Tracy Warwick and have reason to believe that she may be the daughter of Dionne Warwick, but not entirely sure. Anyone who can shed some light on the matter? Thanks in advance Mel

Thanks for your help - much appreciated! Best, Mel -
The Temprees - a great great harmony group! Think I have most if not all of their recordings. Really look forward to hearing the show, but unfortunately I´m unable to catch the show live. I´m sure many people want to hear this, will you be able to provide us with a "listen again" option, via an upload/podcast, PLEASE?! Cheers, Melismo

When was this released: 5 Farenheit - "Vibrations"/"Daddy´s Home" (Abet) https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/d/45257/5_FARENHEIT What year please? Thanks in advance Mel

Missed this the first time around for some reason, but am catching up now, better late than never. Very interesting interview. "Love Jones" is a truly amazing tune. I owned their LP for many years, the original US one, then sold it, changed my mind - felt that I desperately wanted a copy again, first bought a cheap German pressing as replacement, but soon bought an American original again. Look forward to upcoming interviews, and will listen back to some of the older ones that I´ve missed out on earlier. Best regards Melismo

Hi Bob! Thanks for posting. Enjoyed the show - I always do. Some of my favourites this time were: JJ Barnes - Snowflakes Pandella Kelly - Stand in for love Hollywood Attractions - The name of the game Roman and Weston Expo - We'd better quit Vanguards - Before you take another step girl Aristocrats - Be my lady George Wilson - Here stands the man who needs you 7th Avenue Aviators - The girl next door (Fantastic tune!) Bobo, there´s some kind of (discrete, but still) "noise" in the background when you´re talking. I have the exact same noise when I record with a mic too. Do you have any idea where this "sound" comes from and how it can be avoided?! I´ve now bought a separate soundcard, instead of using the integrated one, but haven´t yet tried it out. What are your thoughts on this? Sorry for cluttering up your thread with these questions. You can pm me if you want... Once again, thanks for a wonderful show!!! Regards Melismo

This Week's Original Mastercuts Show 1/6/08 - Playlist & Link
Djmelismo replied to Ian Dewhirst's topic in All About the SOUL
Cheers for posting playlist and upload Ian! You talked about a recalcitrant microphone problem, all I can say is that the volume of your voices was much higher than the volume of the music. But maybe that´s something the compressor took care of when the show was on air, I guess the recording you´ve uploaded was recorded in the studio. Great show as always!!! Among my favourites were: Main Street - That Music Leonard Lidell - Fallen Out Of Love Rojas - With Your Love Mother Fox - Fallen Into Love Helen Baylor - Oasis Brainstorm - We're On Our Way Home Larry Hancock (formerly of S.O.U.L.) is a wonderful singer, a pity he didn´t cut a solo album back in the 70´s. I guess the French album is a bit too modern production-wise for some people on here, but nevertheless the track you played is really nice. The Sherrick remix, is that from the 12-inch single? Cheers, Melismo -
Hi Shaun! Fantastic show - as always! Loved The Imperials, Leon McMullen, Teddy Pendergrass, Larry Saunders, Philly Cream, General Crook, Jim Spencers & Sunrise, Willie Lee/Tee, Heaven & Earth, Ethics, L. Sidney Davis, Jimmy Jones, and many more... Talking of Willie Tee and the New Orleans disaster. It saddens me that so many master tapes of soul, R&B and hip-hop recordings got lost/destroyed during the disaster. Talking of General Crook. I have the Wand LP that he cut in the mid-70´s (the track you played is not on there of course). Ralph Tee states that there are several other albums from that time. That surpasses my knowledge. What other full LPs did General Crook put out at around that time?! Zane is away, so I´ve recorded the show. HERE´S A MEGAUPLOAD LINK TO DOWNLOAD TODAY´S SHOW: https://www.megaupload.com/se/?d=70OOJECX It´s the full show, so duration time is: 2 hours Size: 109 MB If any problems please let me know. ...AND SHAUN, THANKS FOR THE KIND WORDS - MUCH APPECIATED Cheers, Melismo
