  12. In 1980 lead vocalist Jeffrey Osborne, as well as his brother Billy, left the group, they were replaced by for instance Leslie Wilson, the gruff-voiced male lead singer of New Birth. Admittedly, Love Magic is an album you don´t come across as often as the other L.T.D. LP´s, but it spawned two hits, sold ok and as regards the going rate it´s a `cheapie´ to this day. Group split up the same year the album came out and although it is a great album, it doesn´t really sound like the previous albums, because of the lineup changes - personally, I associate L.T.D. with the vocal talent of Jeffrey Osborne which gave the group their characteric sound which can be heard on the records made prior to this 1981 album.
  13. I´ve had several copies of this LP (so not a rare one, and not very expensive), sold them via the Internet to international buyers in the 90´s, but kept one copy for myself of course, since this is raw funky soul at its best, will have to dig it out now for a listen. Best, Melismo, Sweden

  16. Sounds really nice. Missed the Refo soul post the first time around, so glad to finally have discovered this great new band. Going by the name, are they primarily a "funk" band or "soul" group you´d say? If you do promos, I wouldn´t mind featuring it in a podcast of mine, it´s a showcase of everything from 60´s soul to brand new releases and this one would fit in just nicely. If interested, you can drop me a PM.
  17. A sad loss indeed. Currently revisiting some of his best work, at the moment the "modern soul classic" Universal Love´s "It´s You Girl", one of my all time favourite soul moments. R.I.P. Weldon
  18. Please let me know when it reappears, since I am a member of that forum, and would like to get on again soon to check some of the threads! A great place for serious collectors. In the meantime, Soul-Source will keep me busy...lol...
  19. I guess it´s a good idea to have photos of your record room, for insurance reasons at least, to "prove" that you have/had lots of records, in case they are stolen...
  20. Sandra Feva has a very powerful voice indeed, she has made a number of fine recordings, this is one of my top favourites: SANDRA FEVA - Love Me For What I Am (1979) Anyone who wants to hear it can go to https://listen.to/soulmusic where it´s featured in mix #7.
  21. Those recordings sound great! Wonderful to have a new album from an artist that is no longer with us. The man who changed the course of popular music forever. A true genius. Possibly the originator of soul music with his early combinations of gospel singing and secular lyrics and bluesy style. He often performed in Sweden at various venues and festivals. Was great to catch him live, his performances were electrifying. Best, Melismo
  22. Interesting documentary, as are all the Unsung programs (the one on Donny Hathaway being my favourite so far). Was first notified about the Clinton documentary via the following thread: Best, Mel
  23. Mine do sag, but probably because I am mainly a collector of LPs, I also collect 45s, but they don´t weigh as much of course...lol... The shelves sag and the floor does a little bit as well! Better be careful. On the other hand the Billy bookshelves are cheap and "neutral" looking whereas some solid factory/garage-like shelves aren´t that nice to have in a home. Greetings from IKEA land Sweden Mel
