  1. Maybe this time the run won't be limited to just a few hundred Chalky as I think the groups appeal to the US market is pretty big, but I've no sense of the numbers involved so you may be right. Still the bulk buyers might also come unstuck and end up with discs they can't shift. Only time will tell I guess.
  2. The group have posted on their Facebook page that their last 45 which has caused a stir on our scene "Got to get through to you" / "Don't throw your love away" has had a second pressing run. Unfortunately the link to the Coleman records website isn't working at this time, but hopefully that's a glitch in the system. So before paying some overinflated price for this 45 in the sales section on SS or elsewhere, I'd suggest you hang fire and wait to see if this new pressing run hits the market. I've contacted the group to advise them of the gremlin in the works. Happy New Year Gav
  3. Some really nice sides amongst some MOR material but 3 stand outs for me on first hearing Brenda Holloway "Don't stay away", Hattie Littles "Now that love is gone" & Marvin Gaye "Must be quite a show".
  4. Ike Noble. Killer and a great price too.
  5. Watched this on DVD tonight and loved every minute of it. An astonishing array of talent on display and lots of snippets of information that thrilled the anorak in me ! Well worth a watch in comparison to much of the dross out there.
  6. Bought one on ebay US earlier this week for $10. There was another on a buy it now for around $35. 9. Sold two 12" in last few months on here for £40 (vg+) and £50 (ex) respectively. 7" is harder and prices are all over. £80 -£120. I think the lower end is closer to the mark. Of course you could always hold out for the crazy £350 as here: https://www.rarenorthernsoul.com/Rare-70s-80s/10597/stay/#product And there all promos I believe.
  10. Better factor in the $136 import duty too !
  11. R.I.P Rick. Condolences to his family.
  12. Come on ! Mind you he obviously thinks it's a bargain as it's advertised with "No Reserve" !!!! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/The-Valentines-Breakaway-Sound-Stage-Issue-Rare-Soul-Northern-Soul-/251662417078?ssPageName=ADME:SS:SS:GB:3160

  14. Just received a response to my enquiry from The Showroom Workstation Cinema in Sheffield to confirm that they will be screening Northern Soul and will be announcing their intentions soon as part of their Oct-Dec program. Good news for those of us in South Yorks. Now form an orderly queue - behind me plz.
  15. !!!!!!!!!!!! Looks like two newbies bidding against one another. Shame they didn't see this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/MOTOWN-SOUL-LP-JIMMY-RUFFIN-RUFF-N-READY-SOUL-SS708-STEREO-VG-SHRINK-/390894193037?_trksid=p2054897.l5659.
  16. Anybody looking for a bargain can have mine for half that
  17. Both nice tracks Andy. Watched a video of them performing 'Listen' live at a festival, and was blown away by how tight they sounded. The problem once again is here's another limited quantity 7" release which sold out straight away and some "enterprising types" are trying to cash in by selling it for £25 a go now. As nice as it is I'm not about to stump up that much for an £8 disc.

  22. So many fabulous up-tempo dance tracks on Loma but my favourite is a deep soul ballad: the flip of Carl Hall "Mean It Baby" the AWESOME "You don't know nothing about love" NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL MUSIC !!!!!!! Enjoy
  23. Watched this movie last night and despite others criticism I personally enjoyed this attempt to bring The Godfathers story to the screen. Given his history spanned several decades and was so tumultuous it's unsurprising the makers focused upon, and emphasised his highs and lows. Chadwick Boseman did a great job playing the lead and was very convincing both looking and sounding like the great man himself. When reading up on Boseman I stumbled across this fantastic clip, not of him but of Mr Brown singing alongside Luciano Pavaroti, and was blown away........
