  4. Another blow to us all...the Chuck Armstrong ' a better place'...is just brilliant and from the pen of George....a track Derek Pearson put me onto only a few weeks ago...so he had good writing in him as well as the drumming. r.i.p George Dave L

  6. Not up on publishing/rights etc..but i have always been led to.believe that artistes didn't get paid for demo/promo copies..and as ive only ever seen demos of this could this be why Milton did'nt receive any money plus if there was only 300 copies made how much was he expecting...bet there's plenty of tunes especially rare soul records where artistes didn't get paid a penny even if they wrote and sung on the record but it doesn't mean the records are definately illegal there could be a loophole label owner /producer etc have used it still goes on today..just a thought...don't slaughter me for it.. Dave L
  7. Can't wait ...car full woohoo roll on November...

  15. A few years ago whilst in philadelphia and visiting Valley Shiveley's store Val packed my records up and gave me some fantastic dvds . A documentary/interview with Henry Stone being one of them in some kind of cinema with a small audience scattered around the seating asking questions etc...can't remember just how good it is really I'll have to re-visit it.Also got good dvds of the dells being interviewed. ..gonna have to watch this one though I hope he'd mention Charles Johnson but I aint holding my breath.. 16. Couldn't have put that better ...no house /garage etc...know what you mean with malaco ..ecko and ichiban to name a couple more...the stuff mike ward played in first hour was ace on tiny independent labels straight out the USA...didn't Chull used to help him out behind the decks?

  19. Ditto Chris...the brand new stuff played was still real soul nowt else dj's didn't resort to playing house music etc for brand new soul..got the Aleshure 45 too.. dave L
  20. It was 'send your love to me" on wonder watt...think you're right about Sean playing it ..I was told it was a song Skip recorded for a wedding? Sean maybe able to tell us more?..It was a monster tune..especially the key change and Mahoney tears into it.. Dave L
  21. 99.9% sure the Curtis Hunt wasa Mike Ward spin/find..he told me himself it didn't have a name on it he called his supplieritin the usa ...who didn't know who it was but the person called out to someone "who did the 'don't ever wonder'thing"..to which a shout came back 'Curtis Hunt'!....I took it tongue in cheek..and wondered if it got lost in translation. .lol....and maybe an anagram..lol.. fantastic tune though I have it on tape ..somewhere.....one he said 'you'd have to prise from my dying hands to part with it'...to me all the dj's were as good as each other they all threw up surprises...was the Marcia Hines lp track first played by Steve Plumb there? Dave L
