    absolutely spot on sean Ive always thought crossover as going by the date etc Late 60s to early 70s and always thought the music as a sound surely nearer to the american negro these kind of tunes can't have been expected to hit the charts or anything like motown &stax etc I think youve hit the nail on the head "doing their own thing" all the best dave L
  11. can't name a actual fave but all great tunes getting named on here but I'll throw in GEORGE PERKINS "I'M SO GLAD YOUR'E MINE" under rated if you ask me but a tune that got me into crossover soul many moons ago especially when goldmine brought out the crossover cd withis and JUSTICE DEPT "COME BACK BABY"on it both explain to the unlearned what this brand of soul music is about

  13. think you can add bobby byrd "thank you for your love" to the £50 bracket easily on quality and availability also another top tune jj barnes "she's mine"easy to obtain but top top quality tune atb dave

  15. gotta agree there i thoght the sound quality was poor when i got mine in the 90's I actually didn't and still don'f rate it as a great soul sound hence why I sold it a while back for fiftyfuckinquid
  16. yeh sure was cool stage was about a foot high.you could get as close as you liked,also got invited yo yhe appollo by a bass player that night who also played in the appollo house band,he called me over in an interval asking me where I was from .only my flight to chicago stoppped me going I was gutted but bumped into jimmy burns in a bar the next day which made up for it
