I have came across two or three people who have sworn blind that they don't like Midnight Johnny, but there wasn't many artists that could have hit those notes at the end. It took me a while to grasp that it was the Temptations singing behind her

Ironically, i was just restoring a beat up cop of Midnight Johnny this morning. As i listened to the disc after cleaning, I mentally agreed to myself of what a wonderful track it was, and how good Liz performed it. Like all the artists.....they leave a legacy!

But if someone is playing it in northern rooms, and advertising it as such, I would like to know who, and what their take on it is. I personally haven't heard it in any northern room.

I am confused now......how can it sound like Shakin' Stevens? He came a lot later. It wasn't that long ago that so called "northern" fans were screaming to get a copy of Charles Sheffield, of which they have probably got now on repro with the wrong flip side on it. The teddy boys had been holding on to this for years because of "rock n roll train", the same guys that get a slagging for the music, are probably more in tune with some individuals on the scene. It's playing in small rooms that brings tunes out, the popcorn scene is also still unearthing some tunes, we don't need to like them all but variety helps us choose.
