  3. Aye , I tried to find out about this copy and I was sure this was a boot cause the pink label looks a bit "amatuerish" and I knew the 7" was a sunset label. Its got Master records and Busta Stamper in the run out along with the matrix jp-21556 I didn't know that it was worthy of a boot due to it being released in 1982 but it just shows you. It would be interesting as to who booted it and when? Thanks for the help H
  4. What is the going rate for this, anybody? Seen the 7" for sale but havent been able to price the 12. Cheers in advance H

  12. The most annoying trend in charity shops recently is the "know alls"who when asked what price to put records out at answer "i'll check the guide" fair enough try and get as much monmey as you can , but these plebs price records at book prices irelevant of condtion etc - The charity loses money as the prices are too steep , I bet if you asked some poor chap in Somalia how much should you sell the my fair lady soundtrack he'd answer "you can a have it for a quid" So annoying and I know it's for a good cause I usually make it even more worth my while by changing sleeves into company bags or throwing plastic covers on the ones I am buying. Still the same price. Try sticking to the fleapit ones if you can, away from the wannabe record collectors that have hundreds of 78's supposedly worth a fortune, lol. H
  13. Which colour of cardigan did Val have on, I might have that LP....
  14. It's been a while since I found anything half decent in them but to find them in near mint is wonderous. Here's the theory......... A pocketfull of people in a small town that followed the fads in the sixties and seventies when they were teenagers. Say an average of 20 years old in mid sixties will age and be at least 60 nowadays and believe it or not had cast aside their tunes in a loft. Not much years left in them and as the grim reaper touches, relatives are sometimes in a hurry to clear things out and thats how some tunes find their way into the charity shops. It is morbid I know but as one chapter closes, another one is about to begin. I know of a few old mod types tearin' up the street on their mobility scooters. I've got their number and it makes for interesting reading in the obituaries. There will still be a mountain of classical and some c*nt from Preston to go through even then. H
  15. Hate it more than Larry Trider and thats saying something. Riddel telt me ye hud that in the boax Tubbs, lol H
  16. It doesn't matter what place I visit I like to have a "guid pruck" and last week I found a box of 12" priced at 10 for £5. Should have bought a pair of pants prior to looking in the box though.. Chuck Jackson - All over the world, Nightmare. Another copy doesn't go a miss. Upfront 9 album including a rare groove 12" of Loleatta Holloway's Runaway. Smokey Robinson - Love don't give me no reason, Motown. Joyce Sims - Come into my life album with nice Barbara Acklin cover " Love makes a woman. Streetsounds Comp with Lew Kirkton - Just can't get enough, nice. Mary Love-comer - Caught up 12" CoLove Records. Jay Player - Love is the answer 12", Bevnik. 7" Way of Life - Trippin on your love, had the 12" so why not? Worthy addition to the collection and restored faith in the many charity shops that haven't turned much up for ages. Ya beauty!!!!!!! oh Yes !!!! H

  22. This thread has been quite informative and it is good to see encouragement to new blood or youngsters on the scene. Surely at the ages of 30 and up we are all accustomed to Dj's on the scene and what policy is played at regular do's, is it not then the punters choice to arrive at a venue of their liking and know the type of playlist expected. I recently got involved in an allnighter for charity for kids 14 - 21 and played what you could call a "KFC spot" right bang in the middle of their "happy hardcore and nightclub sounds. I started with Sister Sledge-Thinking of you, and Jackson Sisters- miracles, before hitting older stuff but nearly everybody knew beat of the tunes and were interested to find out more about the music. It certainly showed me that todays music is lacking and a change from the norm is welcome. H
  23. If it's in the box, it'll get played but don't be askin' fir stupit stuff like dub reggae at a northern night. That's just silliness and shows some times that some punters are only on the scene to take the p*ss!!! There is still a lot to be said about attending a night with a "known" DJ. I go to be educated AND entertained, the DJ has to have previous knowledge of preferred classics and also show the perspective of delivering future tunes to the crowd. I believe that the advent of everybody and their auntie being able to listen to most tracks at home takes the sweetness out of listening to top tunes on the floor. There is many a tune that I have sickened myself listening to it by playing it repeatedly making harder work for some proffessional DJ's that really DO break new sounds. Haydn
