  4. Bobby Hebb Demo - You want to change me.... Heard that ALL these demo's hiss at start as well, no cue burn on mine, it's a minter! H
  5. Are you sure there Paul? Myself and a few other that I have spoken to seem to think there is little difference, if any at all. Any body else want to clarify? H
  6. Destination Unknown.... Anybody help with a scan of the "tampete-5444 dead wax on this? Thanks in advance, H
  7. This station is really worth checking out if you haven't already done so. Great back catalogue of shows/dj's at the touch of a mouse button. I always find underplayed and new sounds from here, and the podcasts are to die for. Ps. I don't and never have worked for this station, just an avid listener. All the best Mr Fine Wine, long may WFMU reign. Haydn

  9. Any of these cloths are fine to use for fingerprints and small amounts of dirt. Usually find that after a wash, cotton towelling is great for soaking the moisture out the grooves. A great excuse to use up leftover towelling nappies that were cast aside for disposable nappies. A use for everything, lol The actual record cleaning cloths that you can buy are good but can leave a bit of static behind and as soon as you have cleaned the record, the dust is attracted back onto the record. To combat this you can give a quick wipe with car upholstery wipes which will dry quickly to a nice shiny finish. Works for me H
  10. Good work, keep us all busy,
  11. Don't know about repairing but if the crack is at the edge, carefully dab on a small spot of superglue to prevent movement and further cracking. Be patient and careful that it is set near perfect before glueing and always dab the edge downwards towards glue, this stops glue creeping into the vinyl groove or the music will suffer even more. Ps. Personally I have done this with at least 4 tunes that were worth holding onto with great playable results. If the opposite side is a rubbish tune, this can be "braced" with very thin paper and glue to further strengthen the playable side. Hope this helps to some extent but please as always, the decision is yours alone and I cannot accept responsibility H
  12. Great memories of Mayfair Suite allnighters in Newcastle. Although a bit hazy with dj's and music played, must have been a good time if I went back again. I think it was about 84 which made me 15/16. Nae bad goin' fir a young un, a bit o' a Phileas Fogg in them days!!!!
  13. Weird that its styrene and not stamped Andy, stumped! I thought the boot was in vinyl only, am curious. H
  14. I used to work in Fort William and there was little Soul action there unless I took a few tunes down to Gregory's. The local DJ would play them for me while onlookers watched me doin kicks an spins to Johnny Wyatt.( on my own)lol. That was about 1985. Full of bikers and Ceilidh's. Poor promotion, Clutching at straws springs to mind. H
  15. Nice one Frank, couldn't find it, knew it was somewhere, lol

  17. I think so, the man has done all this and more. H
  18. Hi Ian, Good to have you on board! It does seem nowadays that everybody and their aunt are out there Dj'ing, and was wondering about the detriment to the scene. Does being a collector justify a good DJ because of the rarity of records they have, or the justification of a good DJ because of the formats/issues they have available in their box(OVO)? You probably know the route I mean with British releases sometimes championing a USA release due to scarcity. Also, What are you're views on present day DJ's and their attitude towards the "scene" and do you have any views at all on old school DJ's that have apparently sold off their collections but still doing occasional gigs. Yours in thanks, Haydn
  19. I seem to remember a record shop just off Oxford St that used to have piles of mixed soul, Welsh Pete used to run it. Don't know if it is still there, maybe Ady can confirm cos I am sure Ady knew/knows him. Pete was a top bloke and seemed to know what I was looking for. Top end of Oxford St. Plenty of good stuff in beer crates, used to spend my wages in there, lol H
  20. 106 is the more common one Swifty. H
  21. Correct Mark,Colin played it out at Shotts Allnighters, I think he covered it up as Junior Parker. Got one in the box but not seen any about, H
  22. With you on this one, brilliant! Slipped it in during R&B set at the Belmont and went down a treat. Probably get another airing at the 'nighter. H
