  1. "Alan Zweig investigates the wacky world of record collecting. In the film Zweig seeks not to talk to people who collect vinyl records to discuss music but rather to discuss what drives someone to collect records in the first place. Zweig spends a large portion of the film in stylized self-filmed "confessions" where he expounds on his life in regards to record collecting feeling it has prevented him from fulfilling his dreams of a family." Just watched this and it hit home a lot of truths of our obsession with the vinyl recording. Would like to hear others thoughts on it. Personally I enjoyed it, just shows how many different "freaks" there are out there, lol H

  6. It's been a personal choice for a while, but I would try it at The Belmont nowadays, Steve. You never know what will rattle folks bones nowadays, there was a Latin interest a few months ago which went fine with some of my plays, lol Then again if you don't play the tunes out, then we are all left wondering, yes I would defo play it out:thumbsup: H
  7. Thanks Chalky, I know you been playing it out but can't find one anywhere. It's a belter, but where can I get one? H
  8. Earnest Sparks - I'll be Glad - Soul O Sonic. I know this is on a few playlists and was trying to find more information about it, including the Soul O Sonic label. Anybody know more about it? H
  9. I have used the T-cut with washing up liquid and tape head cleaner(Isopropenol) and had great results. Normally I find that some records give a dry look after cleaning. In order to replace the shine, I have given a quick wipe with car dashboard wipes (a pound at the poundshop) and results are miles better(imo). H
  10. Charles Thomas - Man with the golden touch, always been a favourite! Although the pic is the Promo, I got this on issue.
  11. Let me tell you......... I used to live in the West Coast of Scotland and always thought of this as an Aberdeen tune. I picked the 7" up for a couple of pounds, two years before moving up to Aberdeen. Never got much reaction on the West coast. Got a gig in Aberdeen and folks go nuts for it, filling the dancefloor. A fella from Aberdeen gave me the album out of his collection which sells for around $10, but the 7" can command £50-£80. Truly is some truth in regional sounds! Though I don't play it nowadays, I let the young uns play it now, lol H
  12. Nice one Ady!!! And Nancy Wilcox - Gamblers Blues????? Best, Haydn

  15. Donald Jenkins - Operator,operator on Chex?
  16. I think Keb only played out vocal and was booted up on Mafmon record but not certain. I also thought it was Neil Jones that played out the instrumental as " Dance track", only in past 5 to 8 years. H

  20. I still got a copy of this knocking about in collection somewhere. If I recall it was bought from " Oldies Unlimited " a catalogue from mid 80's. Am sorry I don't know where it originated from, although I seem to recall it being made alongside or round about the time of the Stafford boots - Mafmon and the like. Maybe related in some way! H
  21. Lol, I know, just that I be racking my brain at work. I will pop in now and again just to see who gets it. Nice one though wrighty:thumbsup: H
  22. Cmon, give us a clue before I go to work:yes:
  23. Messy gospel influence, but am loving it:thumbup: H
  24. Sad state of affairs Carl, totally unfair and I, like others, find it totally absurd. It's probably nigh on impossible to stop or prevent exposure of the music. As soon as one file appears online, it spreads like wildfire. In some cases, I have found myself recording a 45 from the collection onto cd for folks and either cut it short or skip some of the tune, so that it don't find itself on a carver. I am not saying that even these records are particularly rare. It's just that I have an original for longer and if they are interested enough in the tune and can't find a file online, they may put the donkey work in and buy a real one. When all is said and done, nothing is sacred. It seems there is a buck to be made by selling other peoples hard work and time, and nowadays it is getting easier and easier for these clowns. Just my tuppenceworth,
