  1. It has got a pre-amp, but not because it has usb! The latest version of this deck has usb and phono-only output. The usb is because it has an external sound-card built in for using with a computer - it can connect to a laptop or PC or mac or whatever that has appropriate software installed (plenty of free software out there) and you can then convert vinyl sounds to digital sounds.
  2. Line level is what you can feed into AUX input of an amp - phono level is raw output from the turntable and needs to go either into a pre-amp or a phono input on the amp. So you can connect the red and white outputs to the inputs on the AUX channel, put the switch on to line, and all will be good. Or if you get an amp with a phono channel, connect to that and put the switch to phono (might be worth trying both options if you have a phono amp - if the turntable has a better pre-amp than the amp, then it would be better to use that).
  3. Mind you, this is also one of the greatest records ever made .... I'd better stop there!

  10. OK, so here is my theory. If you look at the interview with Darrow Fletcher from the Xmas 1975 Blues & Soul, he talks about recording an album. I reckon that the tracks he recorded were: It's No Mistake Try Something New We've Got To Get An Understanding This Time (I'll Be The Fool) Improve Let's Get Together Rising Cost Of Love Honey, Can I So all the singles released from 1975 onwards were from that session referred to in the article.

  20. Thought I would add a few missing Darrow Fletcher tracks to Refosoul. This one is mentioned above & is the not-often-seen flip of the release of Rising Cost of Love. 21. Excellent ... lets hope there's some real gems in there!
  22. Yes - that ATCO single as a minty issue with the B-side went for $470 a couple of months ago - the highest price paid on eBay for any Darrow Fletcher single as far as I can see. A really beat up issue of the Atlantic single Rising Cost of Love/Honey Can I, went for $100, and Its No Mistake/Try Something New on Crossover is (in my experience) really hard to get hold of, so I would have thought there would be a lot of interest in a 1975 Darrow Fletcher album.
  23. I got hold of Blues & Soul 176, the Xmas 1975 edition, because it has a Darrow Fletcher interview. Towards the end of the article, by David Nathan, there is the following intriguing snippet: "Meanwhile, he's concentrating on completion of his first Crossover album. "We actually finished work on the album a couple of weeks ago and hopefully it will be out in the new year", (says Darrow)." So what happened to it? It was never released - or if it was, I have never seen any mention of it anywhere, let alone any copy for sale. Is there an unreleased Darrow Fletcher album somewhere in the vaults? If so, why hasn't it been rescued? Attached below is the article in full
  24. Also on a BGP 7" release with Linda Lyndell - What A Man on the flip.
