  3. Hoorah I don't particularly like beat ballads, there you go - I've fessed up that I don't like everything soul
  4. Exactly, if scene played it's fine, otherwise disco rubbish until a big name jock plays then its the next big thing and everyone's scratching around to get copy
  5. But people saying all 70's is just disco rubbish is just like saying R&B is all Rock & Roll rubbish, it show the same level of ignorance for the want of a better word
  6. merle spears-i want to know available on Whit (1st label) and Atlantic, couple of the Atlantic copies for sale on ebay at around US$130 and there is a Whit copy on here at £90 https://www.cdkm.co.uk/index1.html
  7. Too true
  8. Yes there is totally commercial/unsoulful disco that I agree needs to be avoided like the plague but there are plenty of great soulful 70's and 80's tunes, much the same as 60's tunes just pick the good from the bad
  9. Isn't all uptempo soul music disco, as in it was made for people to dance to in a Discoth¨que? I think a number of peoples "dislike" of disco is more coming from either being on the Mod or Scooter scenes back in the late 70's and early 80's as there used to be a lot of aggro between those scenes and casuals/normal disco goers that were around then. Seems to me people with a purely soul background have no problem with 70's/80's. Might be opening a can of worms but....... quite often see people with posts having a go at disco then when they post up a set they played somewhere it contains 70's tunes that at the time would have been aimed fairly and squarely at the disco market, are they acceptable disco as the "norms" didn't catch on to them at the time and they didn't become chart hits??
  10. I'll swap all my records for one of these if theres one out there going spare

  19. Keepin Love New - Howard Johnson Messing With My Mind - Clarence Carter Loverboy - Chairmen Of The Board I Couldn't Believe It - Ruffin And Kendrick are a few I can think that I bought as new, I wasn't too interested at the time in buying new tunes as was always looking for 60's I can remember a conversation had with Terry Jones when he used to own the Spread Eagle in Shoreditch when he said to me and my mates "You's lot are to busy looking for old stuff to pick up the good new stuff thats around, us's will all what untill it's 20 or 30 years old then you's will start appreciating it", "No we wont" we all said on reflection he was only too bloody right
