Soul Night Disgrace
Thanks for clearing that up for me Dawn as I would not have wanted to pour hot butter over my (original) copy of 'Nine Times out of Ten' now would I?.... ........However!, Have you and your 'Norks' not got any Cleaning or Housework to be getting on with?.

Barefoot In The Rain

Soul Night Disgrace
Thanks for that Paul (I think)... I thought I had missed the weekly meeting of the 'Soul classification board' where all the 'experts' meet in darkened smoke filled rooms and try to come up with another sub genre name to give to the music!...

Soul Night Disgrace
A little off topic but given Warrington is my 'area' where will you be having this Night?... ........ and at the risk of looking a bit of a numpty, what on earth is "Popcorn"?...

Site Back Up
Come on Pete!!.., you know as well as I do that it's spelt "Bollocks" and this is just another example of people on this forum re-writing the dictionary to suit their own spelling!...

Site Back Up
Still something wrong though........ it's been back on for 1/2 an hour and I can't find anyone arguing!!..

Your Favourite Dee-jays
Whilst I would agree Dickie was 'The' Jock from the Casino, to make such a sweeping statement as "COS HE STOPPED THE CASINO GOING UNDER BY HIMSELF A LONG TIME B4 IT SHOULD/WOULD HAVE DONE" is a little unfair...... to say the least. Many of the DJ's that have been listed on this thread have played fantastic spots at Wigan including some of your nominees, and I'm sure THEY would beg to differ..

Wilco
On here?..... anyone know Him? Wigan late 70's, he was from (Then) Wyke, Bradford area.

Your Favourite Dee-jays

Jumping At The Go Go Lp Original
Must be the most recognisable Record sleeve in the history of NS..... ........ and after seeing it again I can't stop singing 'Jumping at the Go-Go' to myself!!!

A Plea From A Punter
Would agree Mark but your key phrase I think is "Used to"........ many people don't want to attend a full niter like they did in their younger days so a 3-4am finish is about their limit, also from the promoters point of veiw the majority of people on the scene only attend the average '8 till Late' type night and a 12pm start would exclude many of these paying punters.
-
A Plea From A Punter
Agreed..... Perhaps there should be a 'Glossery of Terms' available with regards to Flyers, ie... 'Till Late' = 12pm. 'Across the board' = same old. 'Top Dj line up' = You've never heard of any of them. 'Large wooden Dance floor' = might well have been in 1927 when it was fitted. 'Large well lit Car park' = 2 miles away next to the burnt out Nova. 'Friendly atmosphere' = the Locals from the bar join in the dancing for the last hour to take the p*ss..

" Dance Brittania " Bbc4 Saturday December 29th
Think you are right......... I was there for the 'This England' filming, but also remember a nite around a year or so later where the lights stayed on for the first hour-ish.......no idea why though?... From memory live acts around then were... Edwin (of course), Martha Reeves, Jnr Walker, The Showstoppers, Ann Peebles and IIRC Tommy Hunt, unless it had something to do with the above?.. Also I seem to recall 'Sad-Cafe' playing live prior to a Niter starting, and thier 'Gig' over-running, but again if this was the reason for the above I don't remember.

Dance Competitions

Reminder Bbc4 9.10 Pm
*Posted in a Soulsource Stylie* Have just watched dance Britannia and thought the part about the 80's/90's was just total crap... What do these people know about Acid/Rave/House Music??. for eg (*insert record of your Choice*) is not in fact a Acid House track but a 'Pop' record as it reached number 78 in the charts, also (*insert club name of your choice*) lost all credability for me when it played (*insert record of your choice*) and we all know there were much better venue's, (insert a n other venue) for eg broke many more new tracks. Also (*insert DJ of your choice*) was far more influential on the Rave scene than (*insert a n other Jock) as he broke tracks long before (*insert a n other venue) even started, tracks such as (*insert records of your choice*) were the roots of the music, without which there would be no 'Scene', and why people go on about (*insert DJ of your choice*) is beyond me as he could not mix a Brown-Bitter let alone (*insert record of your choice*). Sorry, but why can't these people just 'Move on', dressing up in (*insert clothing style of your choice*) and waving your arms around in a 'Big Box-Little Box' fashion is just so old hat and there are a lot more than 500 (*insert Genre of your choice*) records if only these dinosaurs would give them a chance..
