  1. Detailed this 1978 KH400 last week, Absolutely adore the Colour which is called Candy Royal Purple...... so 70's.
  2. A truly Fabulous piece of Northern Soul that even 40+ years after the event still sounds fantastic.
  3. A certain Mr Hunt and his friends showing how it can be done....
  4. I wonder if some of these Artists feel the same way when they're on stage, ie looking out at a load of Fat bald Pensioners trying to be 17 again?.
  5. Agreed, and Stop was one of the Records that I loved back then.
  6. This is by far the biggest piece of Shite EVER to be played on the scene, BUT You have to ask who the fook decided to play this garbage and what the fook was going through their head (or bloodstream) to not only be listening to this crap in the first place, but then actually deciding that it would make a good NS track.
  7. Too many Wanabee DJ's wanting to play out their expensively put together ebay collections that's taken them literally minutes to source. However given pretty much everyone on the scene now is also a Wanabee DJ they don't get any bookings, so they come up with the Baldrick-esk style cunning plan of Starting their own venue and Viola!, Another night of Ruby Andrews and Moses Smith for the Party Pensioners to get pi55ed at.

    OVO

OVO is always preferable but I'm more concerned these days on 'What's' being played rather than it's format. Endless repeated shite is still endless repeated shite no matter how original the Vinyl.
  9. Finding this lurve as a consequence of going to a Soul nite and Actually going to a Soul Nite to find Lurve are two slightly different things.....
  10. Think a cross between a Wedding Disco and an Octogenarians Singles night
  11. Which one are you?.....
  12. ........ as well as a can of petrol and a match.
  13. We grew up and moved on.... I think it's called 'Life'.
  14. Some nice Stuff. Thanks for sharing.
  15. Maybe they could jail some of the Fake DJ's as well.....
  16. Could someone make this into a Patch?...
  17. It all comes back to the what is Northern' thing? I got into the scene back in the day as an antidote to the Chart and Commercial sounds of the day, and that still applies with me now. Of course there will always be tracks which cross between the two, but on the whole if I hear 'I Can't Help Myself' played out I'd head for the Door - not the dance floor, even though I'd be happy to sing along to it in my Front Room.
  18. Commercial/Chart = Motown. Unreleased/Rare = Northern.
  19. All these Dickie Searling Wannabe's have got to play out their ebay collections somewhere though.
  20. The very reason many of us as teenagers were attracted to the scene in the first place was the very fact that it wasn't Mainstream or Commercial. This was never a one size fits all scene, most of us had to go in search of the music, it didn't come knocking on our doors begging us to join. Go to any Local Soul night today and you'll see exactly what happens when you try to give the music mass market appeal. If the kids can't be arsed to go and find it, it's their loss, and if that means the scene dies with us, then so be it. Sooner that than changing the whole ethos of the scene and it's music just to accommodate a few kids in some desperate attempt to keep it alive.
  21. Always puzzled me slightly Ste this obsession some on here have with which venue played which track first and at what time. You'd almost think that certain venues had some kind of Chin Strokers exclusive rights to a track and any other venue daring to play it should be Torched (no pun intended) and Burnt to the Ground (another not intended pun). I loved, and danced to countless tracks at Station Rd which I hadn't got the first idea were played several years earlier by Dave Doubledecks at some venue I'd never heard of in some part of the country I never knew existed, and TBH I couldn't give a fook either way if I did.. ALL venues no matter how far back you go were only the Vehicles of the music NOT the inventors. Anyway, if we're really going to be pedant then NO venue will have exclusive rights to a track as it will have doubtless have been played in someones front room first!.
  22. ..... and because the OP Specifically put 'Wigan ETC Days' which without splitting what's left of my hairs, I would take to mean anything from that period. Where as Just leaving it at 'Forgotten Monsters' Could be any track from the last 50 years.
  23. Countless Records were massive at many Venues back in the day, and nothing in the thread title said 'original' to Wigan.
