Bosstock Records On Bradford Market& Connet Street York

Having just done some house clearing at my mothers, discovering a Bosstock record shop bag and all the wish lists & stories of people being able to retire on what they found on the market stall, getting access to the warehouse is another story. Having had a interesting conversation with Soul Sam he believed the records were brought to this country as ballast in hulls of ships, brought to a Ware house in Bradford then distributed to outlets in Bradford Huddersfield and York they may have been more. The labels were mainly Canadiain America Motown related I know of 6 Salvadors being found. I remember as a young lad going into the shop in York and buying a pack of 25 records Jr Walker Edwin Starr and selling them on at Cleethorpes for a large profit I thought at the time, If I keep doing this I wall get that Leather coat

The Four Seasons Nightclub (later Rudies) In Scarborough N,yorks
Illya replied to a topic in All About the SOUL
The Four Seasons I remember they had some stupid bylaws where you couldn't dance or drink between the hours 2 and 5 cording off the dance floor a t an aldayer. I remember some of your set Trevski, Leslie Uggams 'Love is good foundation', Foundations 'Stoney ground' Hi Keys "Livin a lie' to name 3 My car Mavis, if that car could have talked, it would have been an adult version of Herbi with swear word on my super 8 cinni film ANdy. -
I 've had some great nights there , It was adventure trying to get there and home if the weather was not good, but always worth it. Richard Bayley and myself owe a great deal to Trevski for lifts he gave us. Musically on par with the Wilton and the main man of Burnley, who set the place on fire for me was Carl Heard, it's gonna be a hard place to replicate and it was great to have been part of it. Thanks Philski Regards ANdy

The C in CD means it fits in the car and MP 3/4 means you can listen too it on your moped simple you can not beat the origin of our scene vinyl, I hope I never been to a venue that plays didgi remastered. Devaluing our scene. I am 50 year old still learning form my mentors great to see the the younger middle age teenagers coming through, Like myself respecting the folk who went to places that closed before you got to go, building the foundations, The Swishes The Bubs The Al Rhodes the characters of the 60s 70s 80s you probably didn't agree with what they did but it was a richer scene for having them in it, you never got them DJin with c60 c90 c120 in there cassette recorders just because the format changes, it still a vinyl based scene I've been in pubs with piped music Motown Atlantic ect in the back ground not a soul night, nice but it 'aint got soul ANdy

Used to be good value back in the 7ts Bostock records Bradford Market, then they opened a shop in York and there profits went up, large amounts of good quality canadian and US imports on Motown RCA ect I got a pack of 50 recently and there got a few twin copies of Elgins, Jackie Wilson, nothing of great value most of the records I've seen selling in certain quarters for £5 to £10 I never paid for the pack it was given to me for Christmas and I don't think they would have paid a lot for them and I would not pay £100 for them. The records were already priced up to sell individual totaling up to approx £150 of (Boll@@ks) I would not risk buying a pack these days as there are too many people in for the quick $ IMO

Hey up Soo Yeh I remember it I used to borrow it, Like a very dark blue nice to go down town on Saturday afternoons in the 3 tuns, made a change from the sheep skin and leather bomber jackets and Harringtons, Oh did I say I do have a sheep skin 4sale 40ish chest with full leather trim offers around £120 hardly worn Andy Hudson

Hi Dave I can still picture you in my mind those patch work Jeans with I think Allan Entwistle and Andy Pearse, me I didn't like them I did like the Sheepskin in the mornings but mine got slashed by some nutter from Bolton with a stanley so I took the sleeves off and wore as gillert for work. Seymour's pleasent chap often stops me for a chat in the street even though I haven't used his services for some twenty years, but excitment of going for a fitting and getting a view of your own desighned clothing. The day of picking it up and trying it on and not needing any changes to it. Then going out in it for the first time, picking the venue, if it wasn't a Wedding, all the little pocket you had in the seams and waste band, the multi buttoned cuffs, ticket pocket, He is still making top quality one offs Tailor by appointment to Trevski. Thank god I never went down the baggy pants brigade, and beer towels vest and patches, discrete top quality smart, Still got my first ever Livi. I have My second sheepskin leather trimmed coat open for offers 40 inch chest or there about, very nice. On the casual side it was 501's and argyle crew neck or a same paturned cardy with Fred Perry under it on the feet would be red socks and clubbed soled horse shoe heals brogues, if you couldn't see me you could hear me, right comfee for dancing in. I also wish I had some photos of them days, but they could be used as evidence against you by the fashion police Look forward to seeing you soon Andy
