  1. Hi, Do you still have the Essex Moonlight music and you for sale?
  2. Following on from my own post I had a result myself today. Not a box of Northern but an amazing find nevertheless...I went into a Charity shop this Morning and asked if they had any vinyl. The woman asked the Manager who said " I dont think so , hold on there might be something out the back".She beckoned me through and there were two plastic bags of lps, about 15 in each.I knelt down and the first I pulled was Stevie Wonder "fullfillingness first finale" I thought to Myself "I might have something here" and asked her how much for the albums?.she said normally £1 each but she could maybe do a deal if I took a few. I began flicking through the albums and saw more Stevie Wonder albums, "inneversions"Music of my kind etc then come across Sam and Dave The supremes, next I picked out club ska 67 vol 2,It was a mixed bag of stuff as was the 2nd bag, I found the album "Rock steady ska on studio 1.The vinyl itself plays through fine but the cover is all drawn in in red felt tip pen and there are names written on the back but I knew it was an amazing find. Two Ska albums from the late 60s in My local charity shop in East Grinstead in 2008, 40 years old. The result of my haul was I bought 20 albums and haggled her down to £ 11 which was the middle price after she first said £12 and I said £10.I got "Stevie wonder "for once in my life" Motown original (sold subject to) perfect excellent to mint, the Ink spots in Hi fi on allegro, Stevie wonder "Music of my mind" "Hotter than july".the supremes and Four tops"the Magnificent 7", Sam and Dave "I thank you"Smokey Robinson"Make it happen" "The big wheels of Motown" Diana Ross join the Temptations and the Supremes" "Woodstock" triple , "Hittsville Usa" (WOL) Santana "Caravanserai", Elton John "Captain Fantastic" a Pamela Polland album, I dont know who she is but bought it. Patrick juver 12 inch "Lady night" and "We like Kenny" Kenny lynch on MFP. I left the rest.I was straight on popsike when I got home and pleased to see the Club ska fetched £82 and the other "rocksteady ska" £130 though I fear my copy woudlnt fetch anything like that due to condition.I dont know about the Inkspots. On closer inspection two of the Stevie albums are "Portugese"..It certainly made my day. You never know what you might come across, It is worth looking and is much more enjoyable than buying off ebay all the time.I think I might do some "Digging" at the boot fairs this Sunday.I think its preferable to "Doggin" this weekend anyway!
  3. 13 days to go and now £19518.Just out of interest what is the second/third highest prices paid for a rare soul 45?
  4. Personally I think Duffy has a fantastic voice! Both versions are good. The Third Degree sounds more of a 60s sound and so I think it will continue to get plays. All a matter of taste I guess!
  5. I occasionally find the odd US/uk label amongst the worthless stuff but now most of the Charity shops dont even have any vinyl anymore.I went into 4 shops while visiting a town I havent been to before and only one had a handful of albums.I occasionally dream of finding an old wooden box with old stickers on the side and full of old classics that someone has thrown out! Alas it never happens of course... Boot fairs sometimes can be a little bit better.Anyone got a refreshing story of a good find?
  6. I was in my local cobblers when ! Aint no Soul (in thse old shoes) Major Lance was on the radio. No not really!
  7. As is says, the Frank Wilson copy with the promotional sleeve is the first Uk press Demo on TMG 1170 and so is collectable and reasonably rare in its own right for a Motown record.Normally now worth about £100 but will probably go for more.. A record like anything else is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. Prices can go up and down but it is definately the best time to sell it.Paul.
  8. Well Bidding has begun on Manships and the previous record has been broken. Currently £15019 at 11.59 2nd Feb but with the final day being the 29th of April it looks like it could go a lot higher! I'm not in the running but will follow with interest.Good luck punters!
  9. "I want Sunday back again".I think this is Bettye Swann at her finest.I played it to death on the "You better believe it 2" CD. I have been looking for the Maxine Weldon more jazzy version but I dont think it is as good. I will take it of refosoul and leave it as my last played clip for a while if anyone wants to hear it!
  10. I prefer the Ron Grainer version too!

  13. Thanks. I think I will go for Swanflight.!
  14. You can split..Fyffes bananas
  15. There are so many to choose from.I am looking for boxes that can hold either 100, 200, 300. Swan look quite good for durability,I wondered if there are any that have a good reputation as lasting boxes?.Some of the flight cases I have look pretty enough but if I start lugging them about I am not sure if the handles will stay on! I have bought some cases off Ebay but have run out of space again.Any recommendations please?!
  16. Thanks Rhino!
  17. I went to an allnighter in Morecombe on the weekend of a National scooter rally in 1983. Can anyone tell me where this was held? It was Easter Bank holiday weekend 83.Thanks. Paul.
  18. Thanks for info Pete.Well if you manage to pick up one again let me know.I will let you know if I get sorted in the mean time.I have it on a CD but you know how it is!paul
  19. Not sure if anyone can tell me more bout this.what label if first came out on? I know it was on Trojan over here..Anyway..I am looking to buy it..It doesnt seem to come on ebay often. It was on a while back but I missed it.Paul 07930442022
  20. So There is no clear evidence that the red issueis a boot.It appears Selecta imported them after the Pinks had run out.I am not sure unless anyone knows for sure! I know there is one on ebay at the moment so I am bidding on it as I dont have a copy of blue, red, pink, or any other colour!May bid on the legal reissue on DJM too. Just heard it on the Visa advert and forgot how great a sound it was!PAUL.
  21. Thanks for all your input.I think I may have to go with Technics for durability and reliability.Paulquote name='Paul Mooney' date='Feb 25 09, 09:41 PM' post='1012023'] You really can't beat the SL 1210 Mk II for quality, build and reliability. I got a new one recently and I still have an old one which has more than 100,000 miles on the clock. It still does 0 to 45 rpm in less than a second. How many cars can beat that?
