  1. Ian, another two here wishing you all the best. Don't think you'll remember us but you might remember buying Deep Blue Train on UK Verve from me at Sale Mecca '73- '74 ish . Rich and Gill Hillel. PS Our mutual friend Tony Davidson (not on SS) also wishes you the best for a speedy recovery.
  2. Definitely male and definitely the same song. I guess I'll just have to wade thru 000's of cd's to find it
  3. Not Tommy's version--but thanks. The version I'm thinking of I'm pretty sure is by a group and is the original.
  4. Written by Van McCoy. I've got but lost (or mislaid ) a cd with this on it. Who knows who it is and what label is it on? Many Thanks
  5. Put record between 2 thin, inflexible surfaces (safety glass would do), into a trouser press and then use clamps to get a really tight fit. switch on, leave 12 hours, intermittingly switching on.
  6. Ray, Clive's brother has asked us to post up a big thank you to the many of you who attended Clive's funeral today. He was overwhelmed by the massive turnout and support. So many lovely tributes to a guy who obviously commanded the greatest respect. Richard and Gill
  7. Did'nt really know Clive but Ray, his brother is a good friend. R.I.P Clive and our condolences to Ray and his family Rich & Gill
  8. I have a copy on UK Spark. I bought it along with Jimmy Thomas when they were first issued. I have'nt seen it or played it for years and it will take some digging out. I guess it will be in EX condition. Never thought about selling it but maybe I would for the right price. Over to you RICH
  9. Here's a couple: First Choice - This is the house - on Pye Int demo and Barrino Bros - Trapped in a love - Invictus508 demo Who has seen either?
  10. You've only got a Stateside issue! Surely you should have a Laurie original. I unfortunately have'nt got either but would be prepared to do you a favour , to buy the old Stateside copy off you and pay enough for you to buy the orig. How does that sound?
  11. Tami Lynn was cheap. Should have bid..... but my expectation of inflated prices puts me off.....
  12. £70 offered. May accept individually if I have to.
  13. Rennie, this has given me indigestion.
  14. To a UK release freak (me) the Pama label does not have the gravitas of the Stateside label. It is an f..ing great record...both sides.
  15. There is another recording, earlier than MS, a group, i think. It is on a cd which I cant find, poss a Goldmine cd. Didnt know about Tommy H.
  16. Anyone know who originally recorded this Van McCoy gem?
  17. And we know who's got a copy.....sort of jealous
  18. I've got this. For some unknown reason I bought it along with the Mighty Dodos release when it first came out (maybe it was the girl in the record shop!). Always thought it was shit. Still do.
  19. I LOVE HIM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. The man is a great writer ( add Grover Mitchell's "What Hurts" to the list). He is also a great SOUL singer. He's a natural and his adlibbing fadeouts are the greatest.
  21. William Hunt is a great record but it is much rarer on its UK release.
  22. Sounds like The Crystals to my ears.
  23. Well, let's hear it then, who is he??
