Could agree with those already posted particularly Stax, Motown but Okeh would be a truely great gift - just look at the stuff that was put up last week - OK its Tuesday, awesome. Brunswick and Cadet would get a look in too.
Love to be there, mate but we're off on a walking holiday this Christmas to Austria - should be a skiing holiday but there's no f**king snow! Hope you have a great night though.
Auction closed last week - $156k winning bid turned out to be a prank!
Currently back on auction with bidders registering beforehand so that references can be checked.
Hmm! Popsike shows last sale at $138 May 2006 for the issue. Previous sales all less than $100. $250-300 seems way over the top unless Jerry Osbourne knows something we don't!
The 5102 issue with "There can be a better way" is booked at £750 in JM's latest whereas the demo is at £40. Looks like there was only the one demo with "Paybacks a drag" on both sides
Mind and Matter went for $713 on e-bay in 2005, JM has it booked at £500. El Count Executives on green Gemini went for $1025 in 2005 but only $449 in 2006. Jo Ann Garrett ( a cracking tune) is booked at £200 with JM and appears quite frequently on e-bay but doesn't command a price as high as £200.
Perhaps others can advise on high reserves.
The"does that seem right?" quote was based on JM having one at a ton but recent e-bay sales were showing significantly less. Perhaps somewhere in between?
I have had no problems with popsike lately, mate.
The Forston & Scott track was issued on PZAZZ 012 whilst the Little Willie Faulk track came out on M & H. Both are big ticket items £1000 and £2000 respectively in JM's latest.
Any connection known between the lablels/artists?
Bogue, it's in her discography on Forte 1114 with "We need more (but somebody gotta sacrifice) " on the flip, but don't know if what you've got is a boot. It also got a release on Excello 2321.
You could try www.motownalumni.com for starters He appears in alist of artists but don't know how to navigate around the site. There is also a link to www.motownmuseum.com which may also help.
Youtube has Big Joe Turner and Choker Campbell and His Band
A number of Bonnie Briskers have been sold via e-bay over the last couple of years - variable quality, highest value achieved was $130 (£70) with the lowest at $41(£20) for a g-.
£150 might be optimistic.
