yes ,see what you mean , actually I did forget about the guys and gals that collect 12inch. However, over the past few years when attending the local anything goes soul night I have increasingly heard the use of the term soul snob when referring to people who believe in the originals only and the other local club. Along with this comes statements like, the dancer don't care and you have to be rich to DJ etc. I'm pretty sure this is just part of the tit for tat propaganda to make the other club look bad. thats a good point to point out, perhaps a bit of the old jealousness is prevailing there, , perhaps they know they would not get booked at the ovo venue,and at .the end of the day lets face it everybody wants to be a DJ. but one point that nobody's said is the fact that when playing boots you definably doing the artists in question out of their royalties

just going to throw a slightly obscure angle in here..but.. and do correct me politely if I am wrong, but on any scene, is northern the only scene that plays vinyl!!! IE: underground garage. 12 inch is a thing of the past, its all done with computers etc, burning the CD as they go along,and mixing it up , what I am saying is we have to keep it original, otherwise it will end up the same, and then all us purists will be turning in our graves

I do have a venue if you are all interested ..in fact there are two, medium dance floor 1am finish.would any of you be interested in supporting me on this venture.. dates, well. virtually something on every fri or sat, so it would not matter which date I picked it will clash with sumat or other, that cant be helped I,m afraid, let me know what you think

the sunflower, not bothered,its there for people who want it, not for everybody,s cup of tea, its just when you have been around as long as me,and thats over 30 years, its just the same old same old being regurgitated over and over again, find me a venue in wolves, I,l put a venue on for ya, with the right DJ,s, if you are that fed up, you have to follow the music, I do,and if that makes me a snob, so be it, I really dont care, all I know is that I moved on a long time ago, purist makes a really good post, and the way I see it, somebody once told me and he,s right the northern soul scene is TRIBAL, and oh how right he is, I read I look I see, that its split into little fractions of people who all DJ for each other etc etc etc, it,s the In crowd, for some people, not the tunes they have or the knowledge they have acquired, or for some, they dont even care if you play boots etc,I find your post about the Oakley dance floor amazing, great dance floor, I,m not sure what you are looking for , dance floors are a dying breed these days,most newer clubs dont have a big dance floor, its about drinking at the bar, soon dance floors will be thing of the past as in the 50,Ts hey day of rock and roll etc, they dont want you to dance they want you to drink, its not viable to put a dancefllor in these day,s , or put a small one in rarther than a large one! we have supported most of the clubs in the west midlands over a period of many years, we support alot of venues all over the place, yes like many others, I have my favorite, nothin wrong with that, you pay your money and you make your choice, we should all know by now what to expect from a venue, you can tell by who the DJ,s are that are booked, or even who the promoters are, if you want an oldie nite then choose, if you want a underplayed, which is a term I am not keen on then choose, if you want rarer then choose, I choose, there is a big wide northern scene out there, and there is something for all tastes in music, lets make the best of it, how long will it continue, who knows, but what i will say, is in the midalnds like any other town is a wealth of dj,s with awesome collections, who dont play out when really they should, who choose to not go out any more , which is a crimnal shame,and if I can get them out, I would gladly book them,no problems there, like I say,I know a good dj, and I know a good tune,and if you put another photo up of me, revenge is a supper best eaten cold I always have my camara with me

well said, there is no need to be so negative or accusing, we all pay our money and make our choice,, I do, every weekend, rugbys dates are booked well in adance, I go to alot of places, sometimes , I dont even say where I go, if I dont like where i,v been, thats that,i dont say, because what I dont like, someone might, but wot I do, do, is always shout for a venue that has something good to offer,this was alight and funny thread, which for a reason I really cant understand has been turned round, well lets turn it back round again, if you want a niter thats full of really nice people, that aint into bollotics, plays rite accross the board music policy, that has a great dancefloor, and lots of sweeties to eat, a burger van outside, who has me there to support it, and of course, how can I forget the ladiez!!!!anyone got a problem with that!

just going to pull up on a few pointers here and there, woody...john weston..., col kidson...,martyn bradley,...and I could go on, dont see these people being booked by any bigger promoters, round the frigging home towns, disgraceful to say the least, and you know why, cos they wont suck arse, they are their own council, they wont be in any clique, its as simple as that, but thanks to people like billy, and Helen and Martyn, they do appreciate the tunage they have spent the last 30 odd years acquiring, dont you think people here in the midlands are sick to the back teeth hearing the same friggin DJ,s playing from one venue to the other, I know I am, dont ya think thats why we travel, 90,000 miles is on our clock,!!!! went to essington last nite to hear Ted Massey, a hell of a collection, as Weston's is, and I make no bones about it, woody , john,and Ted, have my full support and and undying loyalty, weather you agree with me or not, and as for the politics, leave it, fook it, dont get involved in it, its giving the west midlands a really bad name, people wont travel, they think we are at each other throat,s all the while, why aint Dave rimmer at all the big venues round here? how often does he dj in his home turf, I find this quite mind boggling,martyn, helen, take the dd to the dudley club, its just rite for it, dont give up, we will support you when we can.so lets put this to bed now, and move on.

well siad that..but, I can see where pete is coming from, its not always possible to support the places we want to, various reasons..at the end of the day, its soulies v people who dont give a fig about the music as much as we do, and just want a nite out.

I,m sorry that we did not make it to support helen and mart again, but it just how things pan out sometimes, we have to weigh alots of things up sometimes when he works late,it really does bugger fridays up for us now and again, and yes perhaps a bit more proming would not go amiss, hope your not offended, just being honest.
