Lou And Teds Excellent Adventure! Posted by mrs soul, 18 October 2009 well Ted how was it for you, cos it was great for us,what no-body realizes the logistics of getting us all to-gether in one place, because at first me and woody just could not afford to go, as with everybody monies an issue, but after alot of hoo har and endless texts and phone calls it all went to-gether with military precision!from the onset after being picked up by Ted, with John Pugh, Kenny onions and Martyn Bradley already comfortably sitting, was I ready for this, Woody already went 2 hours earlier with Weston Col and Dave Rimmer,to the blue post first, for some serous drinking,but going out the house at 6PM, is far to early for a young woman of my age, but, I thought this is a treat for me, siting in with some very knowledgeable people, wot snippets of info can I learn,labels, records,etc! with- in the first 5 seconds having decided wot hole to use, mine or kens , amid fits of laughter, from 4 blokes, it soon became apparent, that this was not going to be the case, and conversations of childhood memories etc,became the topic there and back, which I will go into laters, Always had a lot time for Ted,remember he has been around for a great number of years,and sold various collections which I would have loved to have seen let alone have. It was well time he graced the decks of the 100 club, and boy I don't think he let us down, playing some of his big tunes,getting the dance-floor rocking, being on with the likes of Butch and Mick, with the great Keith money, he slotted in perfectly, and thoroughly enjoyed him self in the process as we did,he could have played any number of sets,and could have gone anyway he wanted, but the west midlands had that corner of the room in the 100 club last nite, we came we danced and hopefully every body else enjoyed it as much as we did,well done Ted,hope we did you proud too, it took a lot of hard work to bring us all down and would do it all over again, and as I said when I got out of the car, where we goin next week ! one thing puzzles me though, why on earth in there some graffiti in the ladies toilets that spells WOODY and besides I want more stories from John and Kenny about stealing fags and monies from ya grandparents , John as always, what wonderful tales he tells, honest and truthful, such a pleasure to be in this kind of company, I was honored to be part of it, we were in stitches on how he rifled the money to buy the cards you got when you where a kid, the ones with a small slice of bubbly gum in em, what was it, ten bobs worth, but they all had the same picture in..do you know woodsy has still got some in the loft, if it makes you feel any better, you can have em,bazooka Joe, Aztec bars, we reminisced bout every thing, we came we danced, we laughed, we chatted, and then we went home, and as I walked up in the morning daylight,to my house, I noticed that the doors were wide open next door, all the lights on, now we have 2 old people next door who both have Alzheimer's, and they must have been on one of their adventures, whilst I had been on mine, they often do it, last time, they were found in walsall, on a bus, she with her slippers on, oh well what could I do, no doubt the police would bring them back as they often do. later on, while I was cookin the dinner, woody still in bed, cos he did not get home till much later than me, a knock on the door,, it was the wondering couple from next door, hello there they said, and in the mans hands was a curry with a mug of tea, on a tray, this is for you he said, they told me to bring it for your dinner, its not mine its yours I said, (the carer who comes in 4 times a day, had made it for his dinner!!)after a lot of persuading I managed to get them back in their own house, do you live both sides of us they asked I have lived next door to you for 15 years I said, but they had not a clue who I was whats the point of me telling you this when the blogs about Ted's soulful 100 debut, you may be thinking, the point is my friends..for gods sake , please enjoy your self where ever you lay your soulful hat, for life is a precious brittle thing.and while we are driving up and down the country to any soul venue, one day that could be me or you in the future so if anyones asks me wot I did this weekend, how can I put that in one clear sentance! FROM THE OFFSET, I KNEW WE WHERE IN FOR A GOOD TIME, BECAUSE, I WAS PHONING SIAN, AT THE AIRPORT, TO MEET UP,AND SHE WAS OUTSIDE W H SMITH IN THE AIRPORT, AND SO WAS I, BUT UP STAIRS AND I SAID I,M WAVING , BUT I CANT SEE YOU, NO COS SHE WAS DOWNSTAIRS, AND LEANE HAD NOT GOT HER BOOKING SHEET, AND HAD TO PAY A EXTRA 20 QUID, SO THAT SET THE PACE, SO TO SPEAK, ANYWAY WE GOT THERE EVENTUALLY,EVEN WITH OUT DAVE RIMMER SHAKING MY SEAT ON THE PLANE!AND WAS SOON GREETED BY PHIL SHIELDS AND KEV NEWRY IN THE HOTEL AT SLEEPLESS NITES, WE SOON HAD THE DRINKS ON THE GO, AND GOT DOWNSTAIRS, AT 4-ISH, SO WE COULD HEAR ALL THE DJ,S WHO WHERE SPINNING, AND I HAVE TO SAY IT NOW, THEY WHERE ALL BLOODY GOOD, I CAN TELL YOU, BY THE TIME 6 CAME , IT WAS TIME FOR ME, AND WILL DO ME PLAY LIST AT THE END, I WAS BIT TIPSY,PIP STAYED WITH ME FOR 1 MINUTE, THEN BUGGERED OFF, I THINK DANNY HAS LOWERED THE DECKS, COS I COULD REACH THIS TIME, ANYWAYS, DID ME BIT, AND THERE WHERE A FEW IN THE ROOM ALREADY, WHICH WAS GREAT, AND THEY DANCED!!!OLOF FOLL0WED ME, AND I CANT REMEMBER, BUT THEN PHIL SHIELDS, MARK SPEAKMAN AND CHICO,PAUL MCKAY ,DANNY ,HARPO,MR THOMAS, SORRY MISSED LOADS OUT,I DO APOLIGISE, BUT THEY WHERE SUPURB, THE MUSIC WAS A GREAT MIX RARER, OLDIES, YOU NAME IT, IT GOT PLAYED, TO A PACKED DANCEFLOOR, IT WAS JUST SO GOOD, I KEEP SAYING IT, BUT ITS TRUE!!! BUT AS THE NITE PROGRESSED, WE WERE ALL WORSE THE WEAR FOR DRINK AND BY THE TIME WOODY WENT ON, MUCH MUCH LATER, I REMEMBER GOING BEHIND THE DECKS TO KISS HIM , BUT WHAT NO-BODY KNEW, IS THAT I SLIPPED DOWN AND WAS ON THE FLOOR LYING DOWN WHILST HE WAS DJ,ING, HE WAS STEPPING OVER ME, COS I COULD NOT GET BACK UP THEY ALL WONDERED WHERE I HAD GONE!! I SPENT MOST OF THE NITE JUST DANCING TO THE BELTING SOUNDS THAT WAS PLAYED, JUST A FANTASTIC PACKED NITE, WONDERFUL, COULD NOT FAULT ANYTHING AT ALL, DONT KNOW WHAT TIME WE WENT BACK TO THE ROOM, BUT A KNOCK 0R 3 ON THE DOOR, AND (WOODY WAS THE DOORMAN,) PRETTY SOON THERE MUST HAVE BEEN ABOUT 20 ODD PEEPS IN THE ROOM, LUCKY FOR ME, I HAD PAJAMAS GOOD JOB, COS DANNY WAS SITTING ON THE EDGE OF THE BED, AND SIAN SAID ,BECAUSE HE WAS NODDING OFF, JUST PUT YOUR HEAD DOWN FOR FIVE MINUTES!!! WELL HE WAS STILL THERE IN THE MORNING, AND THE LOOK OF HORROR ON HIS FACE WAS PRICELESS, WHEN HE WOKE UP AND REALIZED THAT HE HAD SLEPT WITH ME AND WOODY,(AND BY THE WAY HE SNORED AND WOODY SNORED IN UNISON,) ONE AFTER THE OTHER, WITH ME IN THE MIDDLE, THE GREAT ESCAPE PREVAILED, HE LEFT WITH OUT PUTTING HIS SHOES ON, FASTER THAN YOU COULD SAY SLEEPLESS NITES WE JUST POSL, NEVER HAVE I SEEN A MAN WITH A HANGOVER MOVE SO FAST IN ALL MY LIFE..... ...... Mr & Mrs Dj Posted by mrs soul, 07 October 2008 · Why am I writing this, because I feel I have to, if you where sitting in our car , going round endless roundabouts, invisible, you would die laughing, it all started when I decided to buy my own tunes out of sheer frustration, I,ve always bought records for woody for the past 30 odd years, but when it was one I wanted , but he did not, no chance, hence my collection, there ain't room in this house for 2 record collectors, his resounding words very often echo in my head, when we clash, which we do, every week! now I get it, you see it interferes with his collecting, because there are not so many funds as there was be for, because I am directing my funds too me some time ago talking to Annie and Ritchie , I was very much amazed at how transferring tunes between them selves, he keeps a Little book, and writes down every last penny she owes him guess what woody is the same, at the moment, I have managed to secureT J Williams from him, with a balance owing of 80 quid, swapped my debinairs for a few cheaper tunes, and the list goes on, look for a tune for me woody, I don't know what you like, I, m too busy, I ain't got time, and the list goes on, don't get me wrong, he does help me sometimes, but not all the while, only when he,s in a good mood, will you look at my tunes that I are playing out, will you tell me wot you think etc etc etc, mmm you have no idea how hard it is to get a reaction from him, so many conversations that we have had in the car, and oh so many arguments about records are totally laughable, here we are, all these years later, and remember I spent most of my courting days bent over.... now now..should I say crouched over records box,s and places and rooms, you get my drift,looking for tunes, searching, most couples went shopping on a sat , not us, we went shopping for vinyl instead..are we mad, are we the only Mr and Mrs DJ, in these circumstances, I think not, there must be other couples, how do you get on????? so lets set the ""record "" straight shall we, no, I don't use woody,s records, no, he don't buy them for me, no, I don't play boots, I do this all on my own, and just be for I finish this.I have a copy of Jo Jo petite, and last week he bought little Jeanette, which is the other version, you can stick yr Jo Jo petite, he said, with a merry grin on his face, look what I,v got, and that says it all.
