  2. there has been some great tracks listed on this thread, real soulful tunes, ray pollard seems to have come out on top, thanx for replying, it gives us all something to think a-bout, it aint always about banging 60T,s stompers

I have the clap I love clapping, its a way of expressing your feeling for a tune, I cant help my self, I even clap at home by my self, more power to the clap I say, and when a DJ, gets unanimous round of clapping it dont half help them feel bloody good!years ago, every single person clapped, not so much these days, perhaps people think they look daft, personally I always look daft, and have been known to be the only person in a room clapping
  4. disgraceful, will keep our eyes open, good god, sometimes this scene is full of fooking A-soles!pity we cant flush them out and pull the chain!
  5. lets keep em coming, thats what its all about!
  6. thats why ray pollard has an effect on woody, when dave rimmer played it at sleepless nites, the poor bloke was gutted with emotion.
  7. and thats how I got my bad knee, so mark bicknell can pay for my physio!!
  8. Couple of threads going about stuff that picks you up, stuff that gets you down etc, so I thought that I would start one about records that really tug at your heart strings , might have been done before I not sure, anyway to start heres mine. MARVIN GAYE. COME TO THIS. really gets to me, you can feel his passion in his words.it really moves me. RAY POLLARD. THE DRIFTER. this makes my hubby really tearful for private reasons.
  9. hard to say about years gone by,too many to remember, but recent sets that will stick in my mind are john manship and mark bicknell at silks not that long ago..pure brilliance... but for me and in my honest opinion nobody will ever beat George hunt and Dickie watts, double decking, they bounce off each other, and the stuff they play is out of this fooking world, you cannot catch your breath ! IMHO

having a kiss and cuddle off the old man and holding his hand, I know its daft, but we really do love each other to bits, even though he,s gotten fatter and balder watching your kids make a good life for them selves, and going in the front room, putting a record on the turntable, at full blast, and dancing round the room, and saying to your self, god that was great!I love that tune, and the neighbors thinking I am potty!!
  11. WHERE DO YOU START, SO MANY B SIDES ARE THE MAIN TUNE, TO THE FACT THAT WE THINK ITS THE A SIDE, AND WHAT ABOUT DOULBLE SIDES, WHICH ONE TO PLAY, OR JUST PLAY BOTH, COULD BE A LONG THREAD.

well been married to a record collector for over 30 years, and I cant begin to tell you how many places I have trawled through, how many hours spent, time , money, its almost an obsession, but we all have to remember, that its OK saying my box is worth such and such amount of money, but really, will anybody ever get back their investment, ,we have sold a couple of collections in past years, to help pay the mortgage, but it was a hard slog, so I personally tend to go for stuff a big collector would not bother with, like the underplayed stuff, and I keep on saying it over and over again, there is a lot of it out there, if you look, some great tunes to be had, and cheap, at the other end of the spectrum, woody tends to go for the bigger stuff, but will not pay to big bucks, because we cant afford to, and does spend alot of time trawling the internet, and his contacts, and does find big tunes, but at a cheaper cost, anybody can have a big collection if they have the money, but I think it takes a bit more than that, it takes, a certain amount of good knowledge , integrity, and sheer hard work, to build up a really good, bang on set of tunes, and not always the current biggies, you always need to think ahead, what gonna be a great tune, next month, next year, and that takes skill, but at the same time, yes as guilty as anyone, for skinting ourselves out, to buy something fantastic, like I said, it becomes an obsession.are we all mad or what?
  16. I dont think it is available, but there is diff versions of the said record by the volcano,s , pete smith is the man you want.

ceasers..lala i love you, thats a bargain folks...
  18. I have that, I was going to sell it, but could not really make my mind up, its a great tune!!!there loads of underplayed stuff, I found loads, even some woody does not know, theres a wealth of tunes out there, as somebody said before, you have to look, and they really should be played, dee dee sharpe, standing in the need of love, dont get to hear it that often now, overshadowed by the other stuff, and its not that expensive, great lady great singer.
  19. I think its crap, however, it will properly top the charts, did not listen to it all, I found it boring, sampling is always going to happen they will sample everything now, especially with all this tech we have,
  20. cheers chalky, for a momment I thought I had put my foot init, and can I ask about the belg bloke, selling reproductions, that Ian mentioned, is it him that had the sparkels for sale yesterday?

cheers for that, yes, its always got to be about the music for me woody and loads of other people aswell, as regards to playing a few tunes, and I dont have many, it started, because, there was stuff I wanted HIM to buy, but he wanted other records, but I am digressing here, over the years on this scene, I have heard loads of peeps play some marvelous tunes, and cant always remember their names, unknown people, as well as well known big DJ,s, I suppose, most people, have to play to the dancefloor, lets not forget, its the paying punters that count, not the DJ,s ego, look at my records, they are shit rare, look what I have got scenario. I am sure some collectors, DJ,s would agree with me here that , and I know its difficult, because they have to get heard, thats its their reputation that would come first, molly is a good example of this, hes been collecting for what 25-30 years, got some bloody great stuff, but he is a gentleman at the same time, do you see where I am coming from, and of course Carl willingham , but it takes years to build up that kind of reputation, and not mentioning Carl, just because, maria has posted up, if fact, I hate the mod stuff he plays, .most people who know me know I dont bull shit, I just tell it how it is, here are some underrated DJ,s.. Martyn Bradley col kidson when I say underated, I mean you dont get to hear what they play very often. flippin heck, you really got me started, me fingers hurt

no you are not, we travel when poss, read above, you will see where I am coming from, heres a few more Kieth Williams Alex Jones jumping Joan john weston..both these people have the VENTURA'S, and would go where they DJ, just to hear it. Phil T asbo annie Richie Adams and Dave rimmer does a brilliant rare spot, but never gets the chance theres loads more dont get offended if I did not mention you. and yes some of the above are freinds, so what, and yes, I do not always go where these people dj.because i dont have the time to go everywhere

thats what I was trying to say, its the records I know they have, and I know they will play, yes I suppose I am following the music and not the dj, so,s to speak, its about having the guts to do it though, sometimes, it does not always pay for a person to play somewhat diff stuff.: not getting many bookings ect, but then the love of the music will overide this ,and at the end of the day, thats what we are doing this for, to hear some great music while we can.there are a lot of men and women with some fantastic records, who never get the chance to play them out for anyone, I feel that most venues tend to favour the mates syndrome, you book me, I book you ect, and then i think, mmm what about the music!!!OK, some ones going to shoot me down now, go for it.
