  1. "you better wake up" was originally played by Dean Anderson may moons ago if memory serves.
  2. Came from the Bowie estate and was told that they did all tunes in one take to let someone else in the studio..Different, but as I say the "Pretty Baby" is ok.
  3. Don't know the source Darren. There's another John Bowie acetate "Help me pretty baby", very uptempo, not great though. Also a different demo of the above track, off acetate, much better. Here's the full blurb... I have a 10 or 12" acetate (can't remember the size) with this on and the "Good Thing" Version, also a track called "Bad Luck" which is ok. The first take on the CD I have which I think is better than the 2nd take. The 2nd take sounds a bit contrived almost like some instrumentation has been added as an after thought...

  8. Don't forget to listen tonight. I will be helping him out..Always look forward to ribbing my mate..
  9. Yes Tom, I think I still have a bruise from that journey..
  10. I'm afraid Mr Byrne you did have a somewhat rustic looking jacket and soup strainer around that era to which i have the pics..
  11. I had this covered up (can't remember as who) early Shotts nighters and had it a while then. Gary had it a time after me and that copy may have came from a copy via me as i picked one up on a US trip..Don't know if that helps but Pat Brady never played it I do know that.
  12. It was the vinyl copy found in a box of allsorts by Dave Taylor From Nottingham. Rob covered it up and then later sold it to guy who i believe changed the cover up name..
  13. Quite a few things came out of Robs over the years. The original Rodd Keith that Guy played came out of there and he always had some gems under the counter..Strangley my mate found the label for Gaylettes "Heartaches" but never found the record
  14. Chalky my friend. Guy was the king of C/U names..Calling the Masquaders on Soultown the "Albanians" Brilliant. I'm gonna steal that one
  15. I believe that the saturday upstairs room has been kindly handed over by the Tefster for Natalie Steele's 50th Birthday celebrations..I believe a DJ line up is being mapped out as we speak..
  16. Weird thing here is I have had the Redd Coach 45 2-3 times so not sure if i have my first (might have sold it to Cliff Steele many moons ago) and played the Funny Feelin side a few times in the car and as soon as i heard the Dart one on here it was the same track i used to or still have somewhere..mmm..bit wierd that
  17. Yes But has Steppin' Closer on the other side..Mine does from memory..And yes you are right, far superior.
  18. This is exactly the same as the redd coach version is'nt it..Had this for years and thought it waspretty well known?
  19. I know Joan. Some folk on here have suggested that people have bought records purely to Dj with..I don't get that either, you like a record you buy it if you can afford it or get your hands on it..Pretty simple really...
  20. Again Joan, Not a comment directed at you. Just a general comment that seems to do the rounds..
  21. Thanks and sorry for the delay everyone
  22. Hi Joan, Not a crisicism of the more funky edged stuff or indeed George as we need some variation sometimes and I know George clearly works very hard to find tunes and anyone who does that needs credit where credit is due. Sometimes it's very easy for people (not talkin about you here either) to assume that if someone has some of the big tunes of the moment that they have bought them for one reason (Ego!) and not because they thought as a collector "F**K thats good and want to get one.. Whatever anyone thinks or how much they might pay for records, people like Butch & Dyson work incredibly f**king hard looking for records and even if they don't do they should be well within their rights to blow their own trumpet.. Maybe the problem is that people want something new but give it to them and all of a sudden "oh are people still playing this?" after a short period and that is maybe that people can gain access to hearing them via the internet once a copy surfaces via the internet.. Any way am I on the right thread still??
  23. Yep with both Chalky & Byrney there..A lot of people bang on about hearing something new, but the sad reality is most wanna hear what they know..George has made a impression, but a lot of people banging his drum don't sound like they now what drum there banging after listening to them cause i'm not always sure who they have been listening to..Think a case of parrot speak rather than listening.. That's not a reflection on George cause he's a nice bloke and seems to want to play something different which is always refreshing..and has some good records to boot.. Butch & Mr Dyson Head & shoulders above the rest by a mile.......
